Chiefs fan here...
We created a hole at RT when we cut Eric Winston. Branden Albert was franchised and will obviously play LT. We have Donald Stephenson who was a third round pick that showed some promise and could develop into a solid LT. He might get a shot at the RT job this year but IMO we need to add some depth and hopefully maybe even some competition at RT.

What can you guys tell me about Dennis Roland? I know he doesn't have alot of starting experience but it would be probably more for depth on the right side.

Thoughts?

Roland is a big stiff guy, but struggles to get low enough to block well enough, and this was the knock the Redskins had on him after they drafted him.

He has played as an extra blocker when we've run 'inbalanced line' sets, so he might be useful in KC's run game.

IMO, he's no NFL starting calibre tackle. Think of him as a big TE who can't catch.

According to our O-line coach, he's a great technician, so he'd probably be a good o-line coach, but yeah, he's not a starter.

In Roland's defense, in 2009 and 2010 when Andre Smith had foot problems the team went to DR rather than Anthony Collins. With Smith healthy Roland has mostly played as a jumbo TE but he is the backup RT. He gets praised a lot for his technique but is still a 6'9" guy who most rushers can get under.
