Brady Quinn or Rex Grossman would've probably been a better 'reaction'...

Nice try,

but no.

You can look up their respective career stats and see why you're wrong.
Compared to Cassell?????? Matt Cassell wishes he was Rex Grossman.

Cassell has been beyond dreadful for the last two years. I'm not even sure he can be a decent backup because a decent backup is supposed to be able to win some games and Cassell couldn't if his life depended of it.

The question is, is this a QB competition, or does one of Cassel/Ponder have the #1 job for now?

Not a chance. I don't feel Ponder is a true starting QB, but even he's guaranteed to keep his job if Cassel is coming in.

I'm so sorry I didn't realize that this was middle school were you do it one time and you're awesome.

Come on you're better than that. Mark Bradley, WR (OU) made an amazing down the field throw to Tyler Thigpen once upon a time. Guess he's great at throwing the ball down the field and all concerns of his QB career are put to rest.

I guess since you're old and can only understand things literally: Ponder can't throw the football well enough down the field with any kind of consistency that concerns a defense.

jeez, talk about a middle school response...

so much hyperbole. maybe just let it go now.

not sure what you mean by middle school response, I asked if this was middle school were you do something once and it all of the sudden means you can do it every time. Meaning since Ponder made one good throw down the field he can now do it consistently and be considered a threat, which at this point he is NOT considered a threat throwing the ball down the field.

Yea he just needs to accept that he is wrong. Ponder does not have a good deep ball, which was the true and original point.

Not a bad signing, MN needs to upgrade the backup spot. Though, I would expect there to be a competition. As in its probably Ponder's job to lose, barring Cassel performing brilliantly.

NFCC win.

Grossman: 1
Cassel: 0

Stafford: 0

Not sure how Stafford got in this conversation. Please stick to the subject at hand.

You're argument literally makes no sense.

NFC Championship games.

Cassell played for New England and Kansas City.

Neither of those teams are in the NFC.

Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, Michael Vick, Tony Romo, Jay Cutler, (Matt Stafford), Josh Freeman, Alex Smith and Sam Bradford have never helped their team get past the NFC Championship game...

So I guess that means they're all worse than Grossman, right?

Laughing

try again.

No, he'll purely be a backup.

But atleast if injury occurs he can come in for the short term and not screw it all up.

Its a good signing, but people will think this move will push Ponder because he doesn't put up big stats on a team without a Wideout worth a damn, and a clear running team.

It means Rex Grossman is an experienced veteran with playoff experience and if you guys seriously can't understand that then have fun with Cassel!

This is very petty and it's hilarious to see that you have to resort to personal attacks.

Me being a Detroit fan has nothing to do with your backup quarterback, I haven't said one bad thing about you, your team, or your starting quarterback. I simply asked why not Rex Grossman. I think you guys need to stop being bitter and learn to discuss like adults.

Grossman is quite easily a better option. Wonder why they didn't go after him.

I'm sure they are coddling him.

Just like FO coddled Jackson.

Don't want to break his confidence or spirit. That would be a detriment to him and the team.
