Good move. I'm glad it's just $10 million guaranteed (less than Welker's $12). That's awesome for a 5 year deal.

While I was a bit bumbed we lost Welker, Amendola makes up for it and more. He's way more athletic than Welker, and probably has better hands (yes, i'm being serious).

Injuries concern me, sure, but his injuries don't look like those nagging types that reoccur all the time. Just bad luck, so I'm hopeful there's a good chance he will stay healthy in NE. If not, he can get cut in a couple years and we're only out $10.

P.s. This makes like the 4th or 5ht player from the Rams offense we've signed so far. McDaniels loves his former players lol.

Great. That 2011 Rams offense was truly something special.

Dallas never should have let this guy go. That being said; injured... all the time.

At first I was all "lulz pats front office finally made a mistake and overpaid!!!" ... Then I saw it was only $10M guaranteed Sad. I'm guessing most of the guaranteed money is in the first 2 years thus making him cuttable if he doesn't live up to expectations.

$6M signing bonus and only $4M in other guaranteed money, so you're probably right. If that's the case, there would be $3.6M in dead money after releasing him in two years, $2.4M in dead money after three years.

Not bad at all but still not the right move. Was $2 million in guaranteed money and a theoretical 5th year really worth the risk? I don't think so. Especially given that a lot of Welker's success was running routes than most WR won't (getting drilled over the middle) and being so in sync with Brady. I won't slam the move but I get the vibe that this was more a "look how smart we are, OMG Patriots way" move than the best football decision, especially given Brady's solid contract and that few other players on that roster will command huge, cap destroying money (at least prior to the new TV contract).

I'd be indignant if I were Brady, giving the Patriots a home town discount (which ironically was about the difference between Amendola and Welker's contract).

Strangely, both went to Texas Tech as well.

Even more strange they're both under 6 ft, under 200 lbs, and are slot receivers with similar strengths and weaknesses. That skin doe.
