Depending on the contract I am either going to be extremely happy or very pissed.

Really doubt Alex Smith would get KC to 2nd place.

Alex Smith + Andy Reid + better health = KC 2nd in our division.

I know how I will feel about it if they give him a long term deal that makes it impossible to sign Decker when his deal is up. We have a damn good thing going with DT and Decker and I sure would hope we don't screw that up for a 32 year old reciever. Hopefully it will be a 2 year deal and we can let him walk when Decker needs extended.

Depends on the contract, but WOW - if there were any nutjob out there that didn't already know Denver was pushing all-in for a title, this will help show them.

I really don't think this would be a necessary signing, we already have Stokes who Manning calls the best slot receiver in the NFL. I would much rather pay for a young guy like Ryan Swope than overpay for Welker who is on the downside of his career, and only has a few years left anyways

Unless the contract is very good I hate this move. I do not think Welker will improve us significantly and seems like to much is set by trying to win now, which never seems to work out for anyone.

As does Manning...Denver is trying to give Peyton the best possible weapons to win multiple championships in the next few years.

If he's on the downside what does that say about Stokley? I do believe he's 4 years older

Yeah that's where I come down.

Is what Welker can do for us worth that much more money than what Stokley can do, given the price difference? Is a $8m/year spent for Welker's production four times better than what we could get for $2m/year from Stokley?

How crappy is this for Tom Brady - renegotiate your contract in hopes of keeping your favorite WR only to see him go to one of your biggest conference rivals?

Charlie Casserly said on NFLN this morning that Mac has been behind the move to push Welker out in favor of Woodhead and Edelman. Surprising that Mac would be responsible for alienating a key player.

I lol'ed. If we do sign Welker, at least we might make New England suffer.

Stokely is already on his downside I assumed that everybody knew that...

The difference is that we didn't overpay for stokely and he is already on the team. We brought him here because of Manning, and we got him cheap. If we can sign Welker to a cheap deal then perfect, but I just have a gut feeling that we are going to severely overpay for him.

Signing Welker doesn't by any means lessen the role the Stokley will have in our offense. I mean he will get less targets but I can easily see an offense where all 4 guys (DT-Decker-Stokley-Welker) are on the field together for a lot of snaps.

The quickness and reliability of those two guys inside could be really deadly.
