And Cardinals reached an agreement in principle on a one-year deal with former Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall.

The Steelers grew tired of Mendehall's issues with staying healthy and consistent in last season, in 2012 Mendhenhall only received 51 carries in 6 games and average just 3.6 yards a carry with no TDs.

He doesn't offer a lot of help in the receiving game but does have 29 career rushing TDs.

Quote:
Rashard Mendenhall's one-year deal in Arizona is believed to be worth $2.5 million.

The Cardinals sign a Steelers reject?

Didn't see that one coming.

Like I said in the Cards forum...he is not that much of an upgrade over Wells and will cost us more cap space.

Cut one injury plagued RB for another, makes sense.

My thoughts on this. Not like he's some massive upgrade vs Beanie Wells, so what gives? Maybe they feel as if Ryan Williams will bounce back from that shoulder injury...

Meh, not a fan of Mendenhall in the slightest. Indecisive, injury-prone running back? No thanks.

Should just draft a RB.

I know Arians think highly of Williams. But if the plan is to roll with Ryan Williams, why not keep Beanie as his backup?

The signing does nothing to move the Cardinals forward...nothing at all.
