Could you elaborate on this thought? I thought Jennings was clearly our best receiver and don't understand how losing your best receiver would help the offense overall. |

I thought Jennings was clearly our best receiver and don't understand how losing your best receiver would help the offense overall. | Jennings was definitely are best WR from 2088 through 2010. 2011 is arguable as Jordy had a great season but Jennings had himself a good season as well up until missing the last 3 games. 2012 it was easy to see that Jordy and Cobb were are top guys. Jennings was hurt throughout the year so it's definitely arguable to say he could have been our best WR if healthy but he wasn't.
I don't think it helps us by losing Jennings like Mattwaukee thinks but I don't believe it hurts us either because of the depth we have there. _________________

Yeah, I'm ok with us having let him go because of the money he wanted and I like our other receivers, but I don't see how we're better on the football field with him gone.
As far as calling him our best receiver, that is definitely assuming "when healthy". I didn't go out of my way to say that because I don't think he has missed so many games for us that we need to specify that at this point. I think if you take him as-is today and compare him to Jordy or Cobb, then he is the best of that group. LIS though, I'm ok with him gone. |

| It's good he turned down that $11M/year offer from us. That would have screwed up our cap pretty bad. |

I see Randall Cobb really breaking out this year. Potential ALL PRO at the receiver position. | With Nelson, Cobb, Jones already in house and Thompsons unmatched ability to find receivers in the draft, losing Jennings isn't a big deal. Not to say we wasn't a great player for us, because he was, but the way TT set up that position with depth makes the effect of losing Greg very little. Then on the other hand, it helps the Vikings a TON. |
Agreed and as good as Nelson and Jones are I don't see them as irreplaceable either. Cobb is different because he's coming into his own as a very good receiver and returner. Thompson could find if he was looking for it another Nelson and Jones. |
I'll give you Nelson, but Jones' is not a skill-set that grows on trees.
Nor his production. Leading the league in TDs, not a lot of WRs do that. _________________ much thanks to nobody on the sig. FF GBP Forum Wiki Page. |

I'm upset to but I don't think it is a huge loss and I think nothing less of Jennings as a person. This wasn't a surprise or anything and I think most fans knew he was gone.
I'm personally excited for Finley to be our #1 option now.

I don't think we'll have one. How do you have a clear cut #1 with Nelson, Jones, Cobb & Finley??
I'm just praying for Fin to finally live up to the expectations. |

NFL.com is reporting that we were offering $8M/year and apparently the Patriots were offering $6M/year.
He took the offer with the most money and a team where he could be the true #1. Can't fault him for that.
He's still a Viking though.....so screw him. _________________ Packer Fan |

There is no such thing in the NFL as a "$X per year" contract, it's not a logical way to interpret current NFL contracts. If Jennings had signed the deal we laid out during the season it would have no doubt been very team friendly with the option to easily let him go before year two without any ramifications. _________________

Favre's such a pig, I hope he never gets inducted in the Packer HOF. _________________
