The Seahawks are sitting at just under 9 million in cap available. I would cut (possibly trade) Breno and McQ and save another 6.5M. Pushing our cap past 15M.

Then we sign Winston or Vollmer for 5-6M/yr and Draft an OG with our 2nd round pick. I prefer Kyle Long.

This will not only upgrade the position but it will be cheaper overall.

Can we cut Breno/McQ after the draft and save cap money?

I figure that it would be safer to keep them both for now. I'm also not a fan of Vollmer because he has injury issues.

I am a big fan of drafting an OG in the 2nd round.

Vollmer would be a real nice upgrade but I think Winston is more realistic and would also be a significant upgrade.

We're going to find out at the draft exactly what we think of our OG situation, I cant think that Pete is ok going into the season with the guys we have especially with Carp's injuries.

We can't cut either guy until we have a signing in place. Breno especially.

Jake is on the decline. And we only have 4 pass rushing specialists on our team. Jakes not going to do good.

now i may be crazy or do you guys think we should release leroy hill and go and get urlacher to replace him? i think it would be a smart move get rid of a player who has problems off the field for a player who doesn't as i realize typing this we would get an old guy for an old guy so say what you want to say to this but i think it would be great!

I thought that Leroy was a FA?

Pete may be happy with somebody like Malcolm Smith to fill the role or he will want to find somebody during the draft?

Urlacher? God no. He will be too expensive and subsequently overpaid. We need a LB who can cover, Lach can't do that anymore.

I think it's a creative idea, but I question whether Urlacher has the speed that once made him so lethal in coverage.

Would he fit playing SLB and move KJ to WLB so he isnt in the open field as much?(Im a huge Lach fan, one of 2 non hawks jerseys i own)

well i can see where you guys are coming from i can see Malcolm Smith taking over he has done well filling in and i really don't know who we could take in the second round maybe trade for a first who i don't know some crazy idea and i know that this will never ever happen. but call up buffalo and offer them flynn for a first? because they really need a QB also he would be back with T-jack its crazy but yea.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9084414/sources-kansas-city-chiefs-want-2-picks-branden-albert-deal

Far-fetched I do know and I also realize we have others we want to lock up soon enough, but Brandon Albert is the real deal in my eyes and if they are asking a 2nd plus a future pick I would be open to it. I feel this draft class is weak in comparison to others and we would still have a lot of mid round picks. I feel we have a true opportunity to make a run at the championship next year and as of now our only true weakness in my eyes (besides DT depth) is the o-line. I dont trust McQ or Breno personally and this would help at lease solidify part of that. May be an expensive option for a RT, but he also came into the league as a guard...maybe still an option? Go back to the Jones-Hutch days. Just a though. I know cap comes into question here too.

Cap is the only reason I wouldn't want to do it. I don't think we even have the space to bring him in unfortunately.

Well in this scenario, we would probably let McQ and Breno go to open up cap space. I feel they are replaceable with Albert and a drafted rookie.

As good as he is and I think he is very very good. Id rather bring in Vollmer for no compensation at a cheaper price tag.

How much do you think he'd command per year? 8M? The question is just being able to keep him signed long term with contracts for Okung, Sherman, Earl, Kam, and Browner coming up.
