So great. Nice we come out swinging for once. Levitre was the main guy I wanted and the Titans got it done. Couldn't be happier.

I still think we may go Warmack at 10.

I'm shocked but excited.

I still think we need to sign another guard. You can't take a guard top 10.

Well, I know people don't want to be too happy about other team's signings.

But its a good signing. Even if he is just average in run blocking. Its ok. Its not about one player on the line, its about an unit. If he can be a good piece of a great line, then so be it.

he will fit in what we want to do....
Depends on what you ask him to do. In a ZBS, he is going to get to the second level in a hurry and wall off linebackers. He is great in space if you are going to pull him in the run game. If you expect him to maul defensive linemen in a power, man blocking scheme then he will be below average at the point of attack in the run game.

Either way he is an exceptional pass blocker.

If they will use him like I think it will be for zone blocking and to get to the lb. also for screens
Any time he is blocking in space he his great. He was a big part of why the Bills had a successful screen game the past few years.

Which is great because we haven't had a successful screen game in at least 10 years. Laughing

Stat nugget re new #Titans LG Andy Levitre: Bills ran 49 times over LG last season for an avg. of 6.43 yards, top figure in NFL.

Everyone will say that's because of Cordy Glenn at LT. Haters gonna hate.
Well a big part of that was Cordy Glenn. A big part of it was CJ Spiller. But of course a big part of it was Levitre. Stats like that are so misleading. It takes multiple blocks to make a run work no matter where the point of attack is. I believe 2 years ago that number was much worse with D. Bell at LT. Levitre can usually wall his guy off effectively even if he doesn't generate much push at the point of attack.

Yes you can. Fact of the matter is a BIG part of the reason our offense doesn't work is because our OL is terrible. Good lines can cover weaknesses at other positions (see 2008 Titans DL). I still want Warmack at 10 unless Star falls to there.

Quote:
Scouts Inc. on Levitre:

"Levitre is a short, athletic interior offensive lineman who has played with great technique and intensity. He lacks great strength at the point of attack in the running game but understands leverage and can anchor well against more powerful bull rushers. He wins with intelligence, toughness, athleticism and effort. Levitre is the Bills' most consistent and durable offensive lineman, making all 64 starts in four seasons."

Scouts Inc. on Walker:

"Walker is an excellent player who fills a lot of roles for the 49ers. He is used as an inline tight end as well as an H-back or lead fullback. He is a very good route-runner who is quick on his release and has the ability to drop his hips to get in and out of his breaks with foot quickness and a burst to separate. He is quick to read coverages and has become a solid third-down option, coming up with clutch receptions. He is not a powerful inline blocker but will show effort and some pop and power as a lead blocker."

According to @JPSTATS , Titans new guard Andy Levitre gave up a pressure of the QB less than 1% of the pass protection snaps he took in 2012

I am not sure the last time the Titans went out and signed my favorite player in free agency, but God it's a nice feeling. The more I look at it, the more I love it. Money actually is better than I expected, now that we know more of the details. Under $7 million a year for the final four years of the deal, and we literally have him signed up for his entire prime. Such a uncharacteristically great move by the FO. Laughing

If we find a way to sign Greg Jennings or Danny Amendola (preferably Jennings Laughing ), I'm going to be real, real excited about this offseason.

Yeah, I'm up for Jennings, but I'm not sure I want a part of Amendola.

Nice pick up by Ruston. He grabbed the top 2 guys I wanted in free agency. A top OG (Levitre or Vasquez) and Delanie Walker. Cool

Was it ever confirmed what the deal was for Levitre? I'm still seeing 5 years, 39 in some places, 6 years, 46.8 in others.

Answering my own question, it's confirmed as a 6 year deal.
