Sign Grimes
Re-up Mack and Ward with front loaded bonuses
Roll the rest forward

Championship

MKC is reporting that we are still interested in Both Victor Butler and Brent Grimes

I'd be thrilled to get both for depth purposes

On what planet is Grimes depth?. At worst he is our number 2. At best he is a challenge to Haden for number 1

That's funny, because Sheard is the only one who is a two year starter.

He also played about 16% of his 1016 snaps from a 2-point stance, so the transition to LB began last year for him.

I also think Sheard is the most solid vs the run.

Is this still a thing? I thought they got rid of it in the new CBA?

I just mean that we only have to reach the cap floor over the next few years i think.

We don't need to hit it this year, so why spend the money.

89% of the cap limit average over three years....

If we are too far below this year then they have to spend more the next two years to make up the difference.

Browns need to get close to the floor... they dont need to waste money of course, but pinching pennies will cost them in the future under the new rules.

Grimes is being seriously underrated by a lot of Browns fans. Do people not remember how good he was prior to getting injured? However, there's no chance he would challenge Haden as the #1 CB.

Butler would be a nice get as he has alot of potential and the steelers are interested in him as well. does anyone else think signing him makes Jabaal Sheard even more of a possibility to be traded

I think Sheard can still be utilized in the pass rush game (even in the 3-4) and would be silly to just give up on him. I would put him in a back up roll, let him develop and see what you have with him.

im kinda on the same page with you.

I can see butler being a starter at the OLB and someone like Sheard can be used primarily as a pass rusher. I think someone like Butler allows us to slowly develop Sheard as an OLB.

I like Kruger and butler as our starting OLB and Sheard and Groves as our pass rusher backers and back ups

No way Butler would start over Sheard.

I don't think it's impossible Sheard gets traded, but it won't be because of Butler. It would be if the Browns draft an OLB like Ansah or Jordan.

While a big part of me would like to finish off the secondary in this draft, that would be an easy path to getting a 2nd round pick, cementing the LBs and moving toward a final solution for the DB.
