saving only 200 k? Thats not much by football standards. Guess we feel comfortable with TD and Beaston on the outside but we're losing some depth esp with the injury history of those 2

I read on Carolinahuddle that as a June 1st cut they can split his cap hit which is 4.2 million over 2 years. Which would mean we could save $2million this year and $2 million next year.
THat said im not a cap guy so im just going off what some guy said. |

It's a little curious because of that, but he is also the least talented of the four. They must feel confident in Davis' continued health and Beason's recovery.
I'm not necessarily for or against this move at this point because I don't know the status of Davis and Beason. But I do know Anderson was a solid SLB and that means Davis is likely playing that side. Davis was best at WLB, but played well on the strong side before he went down with his first knee injury. We'll see, I suppose.

| This seems like a pretty terrible move to me. We cut a guy who is the only consistently healthy OLB we have, the only guy we have who can play the strong side (TD's stint at strong side did not work out, I recall), and also a pretty damn solid player. It better save us more than 200k in cap space. |

He actually missed some time the end of this season.
I think with Davis playing a full season injury-free helps. And Beason's injury this year was always noted as something that wouldn't normally have been season ending, they just wanted to be cautious. So I guess they just think those guys' health isn't an issue anymore. Jason Phillips was okay when he was playing too, so he's still a solid backup.
