I feel like that 6 million could have been used to help resign Goldson OR if we were going to use that money on a WR I'd prefer a "stretch the field" type like Devery Henderson who is also younger.

Agreed. Darius Heyward-Bey for example would have been a perfect fit.

no he wouldnt have Laughing Laughing not the type of guy we like, horrible blocker, route runner, with terrible hands. No thanks. Not even a legit deep threat. Not the type of WR we like, doesnt fit our scheme... even slightly.

what a joke

Yes, he is 32, going on 33 and making $6Mil a year but do the Ravens even make the Super Bowl without him?! I do believe the answer to that is N-O. Do they beat us in the SB without him? I don't believe they would have. He is phenomenal. Why? Because even when he is 'covered' he can still make the play. Our DBs discovered that the hard way. Crying or Very sad

Yeah, this Boldin acquisition seems to please me more and more. Always liked him and remember wanting him when he was headed out of AZ.

This way ( 1 year rental ), we can safely get to find out what A.J. Jenkins can be... without having to over-commit by signing an expensive long-term FA or drafting a WR or TE with our first 2 or 3 picks. He adds quality to a WR corps that needs to see how well Kyle W and Rio can recover (and maybe Rio gets let go anyway).

I liked him too. Not so much as a deep threat but as an underneath target who gets quick separation. But... it all comes down to his recovery and whether his high price tag is worth keeping him around.

Why do some here think we'll get rid of Mario? Didn't we get him for a reasonable salary?

^

Rio's cap hit is 4.95 in this final year of his contract. So, like I said, it may come down to whether he can recover well + quickly enough to earn that money. I'd give him a better than 50% chance of finishing that contract with us... but I think it is fair to not assume he will.

Compound fracture plus ligaments torn up. Who knows what he'll be like when he is fully recovered, or how long that will take.

Wait...I never heard anything about any fracture, just ligament damage. Confused

That's what he was really good at - getting separation, and one of the things I was hoping Jenkins would bring. I honestly don't think we're nearly as much in need of a deep threat as anther receiver besides Crabs that we can count on to get open in the short to intermediate range ... or in the case of Boldin who can take the ball away from a defender eve if he is well covered. Of course those kind of guys also become great redzone targets, which again I think we need more than we need a guy who can occasionally go 40 or 50 yard for a TD. Moving the ball has not been a problem for us, getting into the endzone has been.

They were saying on the radio yesterday that his bone was sticking out through his skin (compound fracture). I never heard that before either, but it was on of the SF local guys saying that so I'm guessing he has his story straight.

Manningham restructured his contract. He won't be released.
