The former Chiefs defensive end joined the Bengals after originally signing with the Buccaneers last off-season and ended up playing 14 games as both DE and nickel DT and recorded 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a touchdown.

Like the move. Played really well last season and definitely deserved the right to stay. I wonder what Geathers is thinking right now.

At this point i think were focusing on these guys next (in order). Adam Jones -> Andre Smith -> Terrance Newman.

This is a good move. We're going to have a lot of money tied up in the D-line if we get Geno extended. I wonder how hard the team will try to get Dunlap extended too.

Agreed. Not sure we will retain Andre but I think that's the way we've prioritized this group of FA's.

Helps solidify the depth for next few years.

Considering we took him off the street, dude played above expectations. Glad he's on board for another few years.

Fanene and Rucker are still out there as FA's, need more depth ?

If they still like Geathers, no, but I'd take Rucker over Geathers. 4 DE is the Max we can carry, especially if we carry 5 DT again.

This is a solid resigning. This is the kind of guy who excels in a lesser role. So as long as the team can limit his snaps, he'll continue to play very well and be very productive.

I know they've changed co-ordinators, but it might be worth having Rucker in camp, if for no other reason that to get some inside info on the Browns D.

We have 9 x DL Anderson/ Dunlap/ Evans/ Geno/ Gilberry/ MJ93/ Peko/ Still/ Thompson signed, with Geathers & Sims on deck, and old friends Fanene and Rucker kicking around on the street.

For all the numbers we have, our pass-rush without Dunlap or MJ still looks vulnerable to me. Our whole team suffered last year without a good rush. Perhaps we should take a leaf out of the Giants plan, and keep drafting pass-rushers high.

I for one am still up for taking the best pass-rushing option @ #21, or trading down and still getting a good one in the 2nd.

So the dline for next year is pretty much set, the only real question is if we can resign Sims or not:

LDE: Carlos Dunlap, Robert Geathers
NDT: Domata Peko, (Pat Sims?), Brandon Thompson
UDT: Geno Atkins, Devon Still
RDE: Michael Johnson, Wallace Gilberry

The only was we draft dline is if it is late for the practice squad, or they really don't like one of Thompson or Still and want to replace them, which I doubt after one year.

Now come on, we all know Geathers is going to start in front of Dunlap. That's been the case for the past 3 years, and it's not going to change now.
