The first thoughts to come to mind:

Jason Smith, that pick had bust written all over it. He was a tight end until his senior season. How could we use the 2nd pick to draft him as a left tackle?

Brian Leonard over Ryan Kalil. Brett Romberg was our center at the time...

Tye Hill over Cromartie. We took the 5'10" guy over the 6'2" guy. The goal was to stop Larry Fitzgerald...

Trung Canidate, this was an Al Davis type move.

Not resigning London Fletcher

Releasing soon-to-be HOFer Jerome Bettis?

Meh, that didn't bother me at all. If the Rams didn't release Bettis, they would have never got Faulk, and the Greatest Show on Turf wouldn't have been born. Both sides won. Bettis went to an offense that fit him, Faulk came to a newly born offense that fit him.

As for Martz, he was not a good head coach, and he cost the Rams a Super Bowl. However, you can't blame the FO for giving him the HC job, because if he didn't get that job, he would have left for another team. It's hard to part way with the guy that crafted one of the most exciting offenses in years.

IMO, here are mine:

Signing Drew Bennett to 5 years, 30 million dollars, WITHOUT having Billy Volek throwing him the ball. Tsk tsk.

Giving Bulger a Tom Brady contract

Drafting Tye Hill

Drafting Trung Candidate

Drafting Brian Leonard with an early 2nd

Everything about the 2001 draft, minus Archuletta

Drafting Joe Klop with an early 2nd

The pitfalls into signing the successful coordinators as head coaches

Letting Craig Dahl start

Letting Justin King play #1/#2 corner

Everything about Lawrence Phillips

Drafting Anthony Hargrove instead of Jared Allen

Drafting Robert Thomas with the 1st round pick after a lost Super Bowl that ended in heartbreak

Drafting Alex Barron

Drafting Adam Carriker

Drafting Jimmy Kennedy

...my number one....drafting Jimmy Kennedy. I'm sorry, but the guy set the defensive line back for years. He was supposed to be the cornerstone, but the franchise but far too much faith into him. I would say the same with Barron, but it was a problem that got recognized faster than in Kennedy's sake.

The Ram's front office pushed - Vermeil to step down as head coach so that Mike Fk'n Martz could run the team.

This was easily the darkest day in modern era Ram's football.

There were a ton of rumors at the time that would disagree. Vermeil always claimed that he resigned to spend time with his family. He resigned in the year 2000, and was employed by the K.C. Chiefs in January of 2001.

When I read between those lines, I have no choice but to believe the rumors, despite the fact that Vermeil himself has said they are not true.

On another note, getting rid of Kurt Warner (in favor of Marc Bulger) seems like a pretty terrible decision also.

More like Kurt hurt his thumb and didn't figure out how to throw the ball again until he tried gloves in Arizona. At least that is what I think.

Letting Ferragomo go after taking the team to a superbowl was one.

Trading Dickerson for a boatload of draft picks, then getting very little with the picks was another.

How about passing on the likes of Torrey Smith and Randall Cobb for Lance Kendricks.

This isn't say Kendricks is a bust - IMO he will be a decent pass catching tight end. However, at this point Smith and Cobb are not only bona-fide starters - but the skys the limit with them.

All the Draft picks were good at the time though because they were needs. Archuleta was a monster for like 2 years before his injury, and Pickett has had a really solid career.

The Trung Candidate pick was the worst pick of all time. It's like having Tom Brady and drafting Jimmy Clausen in the first round.

Stupid.

Interesting. What if we had taken Torrey Smith, and the Ravens had taken Kendricks? What would that mean for Bradford's progression and for Flacco's?

One thing is for sure, Justin King would feel a lot less embarrassed.....
