Since the redskins last won the Super Bowl they've made a ton of errors in FA and draft day up until the past few offseasons.

My question is, what was our biggest mistake with a draft pick?

This includes drafting a bust or trading the pick for a player who didnt work our like we wanted and then we missed out on a possible great young prospect.

A lot of people say Haynesworth.

Even more will say Desmond Howard, total bust for us. we thought hed come in and pick right up where thr posse left off, he didnt.

Even more will say Heath Shuler. The qb we drafted in 94 who we expected to fix all our problems and take us back to the promise land after a couple of tough years.

Others will remember drafting Michael Westbrook over Warren Sapp

Rod Gardner over Drew Brees...

Trading a 1st for Coles.

anyways who you got?

Here is mine. In 1997 the redskins started off 0-8 withe Gus Ferrotte. Norv Benched Gus and went with Trent Green who won 6 games and we didn't get the #1 pick.

If the redskins kept losing they could have drafted Peyton Manning in 1998!

What did the redskins end up getting with their draft selection instead?

We traded it for Dan Wilkinson! Shocked Sad d'oh!

Also, four picks after our traded selection #17 to Cinncy for Wilkinson, Randy Moss was drafted. Smh

Firing Marty. That team was young and looked great in the 2nd half that year. But Danny boy had to blow it all up again and go with spurrier.

Archuleta IMO. Atleast Big Al when he played had a decent amount of impact and was one of our best players believe it or not . But honestly Adam was awful he had no picks no FF and one sack while getting burnt so much.

Underratded FA was Bruce Smith IMO he played 4-5 good years and was a vet who had impact ...I never knew why people made it seem like he was a bust the dude avg 5-10 sacks a season .

I'll say Haynesworth for these reasons:

1. He ruined the locker room, unlike Shuler, Howard, etc.
2. His contract is a primary reason we are in cap hell again. I mean, the second contract that the NFL approved then said was illegal.
3. There are SO many FA's we could have signed with that money from his first contract alone...

The only positive is how Shanahan set his tone and made AH work to get back on the field (while people Cried he was unfair). Maybe some young guys like Davis found out there was no free ride under Shanahan and it helped them out in the long run.

It's Haynesworth for worst Free Agent ever. I said I had a hundred Milllion to hate the Redskins when we signed him cause he only cared about football on the years he wanted a fat contract.

As for worst draft pick - How about not picking Aaron Rogers at number 9 in 2005! How great would it have been to have him in charge of the offense?

yeah. Picking the wrong Rogers in 05 was a huge mistake.

How about like second to every first, no matter what first is? Like, no matter if everyone changes their mind on #1, if you say Vinny Cerrato (bonus: worst) next you are automatically correct

its nice to think if we drafted A. Rodgers we would have the arguably the best quarterback in the league right now but him sitting behind Farve for fours years made him the player he is now
