Interesting, I do think Abraham at this stage rather be a situational pass rusher anyways. He could come in for Brooks on passing downs or even give Aldon a breather from time to time. I hope next season we utilize our back ups more and give the starters some rest.

I don't know quite what to make of those tweets. On one hand, it makes it seem like he really wants to come and play for us, which is great. On the other, its basically like yeah, he will come to play for us if we meet his demands, which you could basically almost say about any team. I still don't know what kind of fit he is (Seymour definitely the better fit), but his ability to get to the quarterback really makes me want him

#49ers want 2Y deal, Abraham wants 3Y deal. Meaning, he could bolt for SEA if Schneider and CO. offer 3Y. They won't.

Point is, Abraham has decided on the #49ers, but is willing to listen to offers from other teams. 49ers will not lock down at his price.

49ers don't believe price will get larger for him and ARE NOT willing to up price.

Worth checking out the rest, he claims to have a pretty good source.

Didn't think we would land him, but if he's really leaning towards coming here that's great news. The more pass rushers the better.

so do i. let our guys get a breather so they can play better late in games. and at the end of the season

above. we would sign agraham as a olb not a de (like seymour would be).
i thought he was going to go somewhere to srart, which i think he still can. he was still very good in atlanta last year. but i would love this signing, 3 years sounds decent, with all his gtd money paid out by year 2. signing him, puts haralson out of a job for sure.

we would have brooks and aldon starting. then abraham as primary back up. then johnson and flemming battling for the last spot. sounds good to me! hopefully whichever one doesnt make it, is willing to stick around on the ps

I would love to be able to sign Abraham.. Would fill one of our few needs very nicely and gives us a lot of flexibility going into the draft

Not to mention keeps him out of Seattle, which would be a very good thing. Last thing we need is Seattle wrapping up FAs that will make them even tougher.

Veterans minimum, if Grant leaves... I don't know. He might go elsewhere. I don't recall him being very happy about being cut by the new regime.

I don't think we cut him. IIRC he was an FA and chose to sign with San Diego. He probably didn't think we get into the playoffs the same year as a coaching overhaul.

true. another good reason for him in sf

we grab him and then hopefully cullen jenkins goes to ny over seattle. i would mind cullen at de either. seattle needs somebody at leo with clemons knee injury, he should be missing a few games.

I don't know who he is but that sounds exactly like Baalke's MO- take what we offer, or good luck elsewhere.

Abraham would be a good fit for us because he would basically be our Nickel DE. I doubt he'll ever be an OLB for us and it saves Brooks for the LB role, which he's better at than a DE role.

I hope we can get him at a 2 year deal. He's still producing at a high level as a pass rusher.

Yep, these are the types of moves we make. The bad part about having a stacked defense is you can't keep everyone. On the other hand, you may get some players at the end of their careers willing to take discounts in order to play for a ring.

Yes, Avril signing does mean that Abraham likely ends up with #49ers. Was either/or over the weekend. Connect the dots, people.
