Punters can get contracts, too. #Bengals lock up P Kevin Huber to multi-year deal.

The former 5th round pick punter 76 times in 2012 for an average of 46.6 yards a punt and net average of 42.0.

The Bengals are also working on a deal for long snapper Clark Harris.

Goooooood. He's a good punter, and this is one less position the team has to worry about now.

Glad to see they're working on Clark Harris too. He's a good long snapper.

In before the "convert Cook/Robinson to long snapper" comments.

Who is our backup LS these days anyway? I remember it used to be Justin Smith. After he left, I'm not sure.

Not that it's important, just curious...

Don't know, but I'd love to see Geno have a go. I bet that baby would get back there in a hurry !!!!

Boom, Harris is signed as well. theJ can sleep comfortable now.

The Bengals went a long way in shoring up a special teams unit that finished first in the NFL's top ten major categories when they signed record-breaking punter Kevin Huber and flawless long-snapper Clark Harris to long-term deals a day before teams can begin talking to free agents about deals that can be announced Tuesday.

It's believed the tandem of Huber and Harris count in the $4.5 million range against the salary cap.

If they did get a combined 4.5 mil for this year, I'm surprised by that. They were both RFAs last year tagged at RFR for 1.26 mil. They didn't play poorly enough to merit a paycut but longsnapper and punters aren't hard to find. We paid Nugent about 2.5 mil last year as a franchise kicker. I would have guessed Harris would get 1 mil per year on a multiyear deal and Huber about 1.5.

The AAV of the contracts will be around that. Huber is $2.8m from what I read. I'm guessing the Bengals kind of front loaded the cap hit a bit to reach the salary minimum for the year...

I'd rather they pay an extra million or two for consistency at those positions, especially since they played well. It's worth it. Set it and forget it.

Especially with our 50+ million in cap space. Doubt we'll be signing a ton of big name guys this offseason anyway.
