It's fairly good except for one thing. Pryor will never be successful in this league, even in a Chip Kelly gimmicky offense. _________________

Entertaining. I don't like Free Agency at all. Landry is your biggest signing and he's overrated.
That secondary isnt very good IMO.
I like the draft.Don't like trading Curry...but the picks for the most part I like. _________________

I know it's something new for Eagles fans to deal with. Eagles fans are accustomed to the rosters being filled out with low money rookies and young players. There is another way to do things and that's to add veterans to fill out some spots on the roster. BTW Fasano has 14 TDs over the last 3 seasons, Celek has 10, Avant has 2. You don't just have to sign big money veterans as starters while also forcing young guys like Macho Harris and Clay Mathews into starting positions without truly earning it. You can sign solid veteran NFL players to be backups, it's not illegal you know. That's part of the reason why the Eagles have so much cap space year in and year out. They have big money players at key positions then a bunch of guys on rookie contracts making peanuts. |

10 free agents. That's ridiculous. This team will be built via the draft. It's been stated by the GM and Owner. For anyone to think we will sign 10 players and trade for a QB that is behind where Foles is, in terms of development is absurd.
The rest of the trades are wishfull thinking and are lopsided in terms of value.
29 new players on the roster in 1 year? Again absurd.
I thought you told everyone how smart you were? _________________

Don't get why Peters is cut. Money is not an issue. I'd rather make him prove he can't play first. Plus, the logic is silly. You don't want to pay a premium for a position because another position is lacking in talent? I just don't understand. Having Peters on the team will benefit any QB on the team. Why set yourself up for failure?
I like the FA for the most part. It does seem a bit ambitious though. I don't think that many guys are lining up to play for us.
No real need to trade Maclin. I don't really like him but let's give him a shot in the new offense. And trading your trash because its convenient for you never is feasible. Who's going to want Allen or Coleman?
The draft is good for me except the first pick and Pryor. No desire for Pryor, especially at that price. And also, I want a LB with my first pick. I want to stay at 4 and grab one. Trading down is ok as long as it nets me a LB. But that's just personal I guess. _________________

FA
Yes - Greg Toler, Darius Butler, Pat Sims, Travis Beckum
I've always felt Toler was underrated.
I think Butler is solid.
I was a fan of Sims coming out and nothing has changed.
Of the free agent TE's Beckum is my favorite after Cook.
No - LaRon Landry, Mike Mitchell, Joe Berger, Anthony Fasano
Landry will play six games in their entirety next season, like every season.
Mitchell isn't much of an upgrade over what you get from Anderson.
I don't see the need for a free agent at center. There will be a serviceable UDFA (see Tevita Stevens).
Fasano will be too expensive for what he is. I'd rather see Celek, Beckum, draftee (Zach Sudfeld) and a cheap depth sub, Harbor even.
Ambivalent - Vaughn Martin, Sam Baker
I am more ambivalent about Baker. Sometimes I like him, sometimes I don't.
I am less familiar with Martin and am merely reserving judgement.
Draft
Yes - Lane Johnson, Eric Reid, Jamie Collins, Darius Slay, Devin Taylor, Brandon McGee, Mark Harrison, Jon Bostic, John Wetzel
I am fine with Johnson in a trade down.
I love Reid.
I had Collins in my first mock and he only looks better now.
Slay looks like a solid player.
I like the versatility of Taylor. He could be the kind of guy who plays five years as a LB and transitions to a hand in the dirt if he matures physically.
The more I see of McGee the more I like.
Harrison could be a good depth receiver. That's plenty good for me in the 7th round.
I don't argue with SEC LB picks.
I think Wetzel could contribute either now or in the future
No - Justin Hunter, Jeff Baca, Justin Brown, Latavius Murray
I don't get the love for Hunter. He's got mad skills, but looks aloof. I don't think he'll ever get football.
I think the Eagles need more than Baca can give.
I'm just not a big fan of Brown.
The Eagles have too many backs as it is. I just don't see where Murray fits the bill.
Ambivalent - Trevardo Williams, T.J. McDonald, Josh Boyce, A.J. Francis, Aaron Hester
I probably shouldn't be making decisions based on school and position, so I'll opt out on Williams.
I was a fan of McDonald, now I'm not so sure.
Boyce is on the bubble with me.
I know little of Francis.
I know even less of Hester which is sad because I watch Pac-12 games.
Cuts
Asomugha +1
I don't hate Avant, but he could be overpaid in relation to his contribution in this offense.
Harbor...don't care either way.
Peters is a gutsy call. It is nice to see someone not taking for granted that he is coming back full strength, though.
Trades
Terrelle Pryor is terrible. Hate it.
I feel the same way about Curry. I just feel bad for him as he wanted to be here so badly. Oh well.
I still want the Eagles to keep Maclin. I think he's a player.
I'm not sold on Allen, so fine.
I would be fine with Coleman as a reserve. I don't see where he has any trade value whatsoever.
Summary
The trades as a whole are awful...easily the worst part of this mock.
Free agency goes a bit overboard, but it is not not a weak link.
Some of the players are excellent.
Most of my issues there were issues of overkill.
I think the draft is a strength. I really, really like the selections in general.
I think they are slotted adequately as well.
I could live with this. |

Interesting that see you cut JP. I can't say I agree with that, if we were looking to get rid of him the only way I would be content is if it's via trade.
Oh well, love the Lane Johnson pick! _________________

| Jason Peters is a 31 year old player coming off of a serious knee injury. He put up a great season or two with the Eagles after 3 crappy seasons. This is a rebuilding team and 31 year old players coming off of big time injuries with big time contracts don't fit the rebuild. Eagles fans enjoy being the last to know. You don't want to be the last to know that Jason Peters' career is finished as a guy that can dominate. You definitely don't want to be the last to know that he isn't starting material anymore. So what if he comes back and picks up where he left off? So what. This still is a rebuilding team and he's 31 with a huge contract. Peters was brought here for McNabb and Kolb. He's 31 now and it's time to move on from this guy with no dead money on the salary cap and questionable health. |

He hurt his achilles tendon last year, not his knee. He was a beast in Buffalo, so saying he was only good here is absolutely false. And the reasoning behind cutting the best player on our team simply makes no sense. Why would we cut an asset like him? Nobody we bring in could even come close to having the affect he is capable of having on a game. Tendon injuries aren't as bad as knee injuries, and I would way prefer starting Peters over Sam Baker next year. Cutting an awesome OT because you don't have a franchise QB on the roster is just foolish. IF he isn't what he used to be, we can just get rid of him next year, but cutting an asset like him before you know what he has seems like a rushed decision. Cut him and watch him go to a contender and dominate. |

Cutting Peters isn't a bad idea. It's a bad idea to cut Peters for the reason listed above. Fact..... This team is rebuilding and there isn't a place for any 31 year old player making over 10 million a year. By time this team is relovent again, Peters will be in decline, in need of new contract and have one foot out the door. Draft a new Tackle in the 1st or 2nd, plug in him and let him grow with the team. If not this year then most certainly next season.
Peters isn't going to win any more games next season and this team won't even get a sniff of a playoff game during the next 2 seasons.
It truely makes little sense to pay a guy 10+ million when there is little chance he is here by time the 2015 season rolls around.
People can say I'm wrong all they want but the reality is, this team has already gotten rid of 2 Tackles that were atleast as talented as Peters is right now, because of their age. _________________
