GREAT Run Blocker. Our Right side went from being terrible to being fantastic with his addition.

Pass blocker he's okay, not great not bad.

I'm guessing that doesn't fit Reid's high passing offense.

Heard this might happen because he had a 7 million cap hit, but cutting him creates a 6.3 million dollar cap hit so...??

Oh well, let the Joeckel hype commence.

I could see him returning to Houston. But I'm surprised by this move. They must really want Joeckel or Fisher at #1 so either one can take over in 2014-2015

They've already got 2 guys who can man the RT spot, no?

A Houston reunion makes sense for both sides.

Come back Eric

This kind of move is how terrible football teams are built.

He was their best OL last season. Cutting him only saves 700k in cap room.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Joeckel probably plays RT 1st year to get his boots wet.

I just dont' envision a scenario where Albert takes the RT spot, he'd rather sit out the year then do that.

For what it's worth it does save nearly $5M in cash.

Winston earned $9.3 million in his one year with the Chiefs.

We've discussed this in the Chiefs forum and his cap hit cutting or keeping him was negligible.

EDIT: Nic posted the correct numbers my bad. Embarassed

$1,400,000 hit against the cap in 2013.

$4,900,000 (2013 base salary) - $6,300,000 (escalated signing bonus) = -$1,400,000

I just don't get this move. He was a veteran and brought some stability to the RT spot considering we went with Barry Richardson the year before. I really don't get this because we created a huge hole at RT.

By the way Winston gave up only 3 sacks in 2012.

I was under the impression this guy was a solid player, maybe B, B+.

What in the world?

Don't understand it at all. Did they even try to trade him?
