Posted: Wed Mar 06, 2013 3:18 pm Post subject: Who will be back with the Raiders in 2013 ? |
|
|
|
Desmond Bryant ?
| Quote: | The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports free agent DT Desmond Bryant is on the Browns' "radar"
The recently-arrested defensive tackle would be an intriguing fit for new DC Ray Horton's aggressive 3-4 defense. An under-the-radar force in Oakland last season, Bryant is unlikely to be back with the cap-strapped Raiders. |
Sounding like the Browns may outbid the Raiders.
Philip Wheeler ?
| Quote: | The Raiders are negotiating with free agent SLB Philip Wheeler, but he "(isn't) sure" if he'll be back.
"I'm anxious," Wheeler said. "I'm not sure if it's going well or not." Wheeler is open to signing elsewhere. "(There are) plenty of teams out there. It's very important to me to get back to being part of a winning organization." Wheeler graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 6 4-3 outside linebacker last season. He was a rare bright spot for a talent-deficient team. |
Are they offering him enough to stay ?
Carson Palmer ?
| Quote: | CBS' Jason La Canfora has been told there's "no way" the Raiders will pay Carson Palmer's $13 million base salary.
La Canfora lumps Palmer into a group of quarterbacks who could be released in the next month. 33-year-old Palmer has gone just 8-16 over the last two seasons as a starter, and he has two years and $28 million left on his contract, no portion of which is guaranteed. He'll almost certainly have to take a pay cut to return to Oakland. Unfortunately for the cap-strapped Raiders, releasing Palmer would give them minimal cap relief and leave them on the hook for a ton of dead money. |
| Quote: | Speaking to CSN Bay Area Tuesday, Carson Palmer admitted his Raiders future is still up in the air.
"Not sure what's going to happen," Palmer said. "Would love to be back in Oakland and compete." ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed last week that the Raiders want to cut Palmer's $13 million salary, but by how much remains unclear. With perhaps the league's worst roster, it wouldn't be stunning if the Raiders opted to cut the cord on their aging and overpaid quarterback. |
Sounding like Palmer himself don't think he'll be back.
Brandon Myers ?
| Quote: | Free agent Brandon Myers says it's his understanding that the Raiders will let him test the open market.
"I’m optimistic that they might give me an offer, but I guess they had a conversation at the Combine and it didn’t sound like they were ready to do that," Myers said. "We’ll just see where it takes us." Myers, who turns 28 before the season, is coming off career highs in catches (79), yards (806), and touchdowns (4). |
Hes a free agent.
Tommy Kelly ?
| Quote: | The Raiders are considering releasing DT Tommy Kelly.
This move would save the Raiders about $4.8 million against the salary cap. Kelly's 7-year contract is set to expire in 2014. He's slated to make $6.5 million in 2013, and $7 million in 2014. Kelly graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 74 defensive tackle in 2012. |
Dave Tollefson ?
| Quote: | | CSN Bay Area expects the Raiders to part ways with DE Dave Tollefson. A pass-rushing specialist, Tollefson was invisible in the first season of a two-year contract in 2012, notching just 0.5 sacks. He's also on the wrong side of 30. The cap-strapped Raiders will save $1.6 million if they void the final year of Tollefson's contract. |
Darrius Heyward-Bey ?
| Quote: | The Raiders could save $5.341 million against the 2013 salary cap by releasing Darrius Heyward-Bey.
DHB is due a prohibitive $7.721 million base salary in the final year of his rookie deal, and Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times has already said it's "pay cut or hit the road time" for the former No. 7 overall pick. Oakland could move forward with Rod Streater and Juron Criner behind Denarius Moore. |
Rolando McClain ?
| Quote: | Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie said the team didn't cut LB Rolando McClain during the season solely due to salary cap reasons.
Oakland would have taken a cap hit to release McClain during the year, but now that he doesn't have any more guaranteed money on his deal, McClain is fully expected to get the ax this offseason. His latest arrest and overall character will certainly affect his free-agent market. |

Let them all go, right now, this year, not in 2014. I need some hope for the future. |

Bryant, Wheeler, and Palmer are the only guys I would want to keep at a low/medium contract. The other guys I want no part of, please cut/dont resign any of them _________________ If the Raiders don't trade back at 3, I want Fisher, Ziggy, or Star. |

Like I said before I think Shaggy will be cheaper to keep than Bryant and Shaggy will be our new LE, moving Houstan to UT. _________________

+ 1, its pretty sickening. Its like a 12 year old playing Madden when Owner Mode was first around. Overpaying for mediocrity and not paying attention to the cap. _________________

Sounds like Wheeler wants to get paid. People has no choice but to restructure and Bryant will be back. Kelly and DHB should also be on the way out. _________________

I think Palmer, DHB will restructure.
Kelly, Tollefson gone.
Shagnessey, Mitchell, Wheeler resign.
They let Bryant walk as he wants to much.
Houston should prefer getting moved inside. He will get a lot more money on the inside than the outside because DE's mainly get paid for sacks and he will never be a double digit guy on the outside. |

I think the only ones that stay are Palmer and DHB. And they'll still cost too much. And DHB will still suck. Maybe Mitchell stays too. _________________

Raiders need to pay up and keep Bryant. He's a solid player, young and will only get better. Those are the FA that they need to build with. _________________

Its looking that way, I feel sorry for Allen and Reggie.
And what is worse there isn't even a QB in this draft to build around. _________________

Floyd and Bryant would be a nice tandem. Losing Bryant, just creates another need unless Bilukidi is ready to start. _________________
