KC staying busy... RT @espn_afcwest: Chiefs Breaking News: Tyson Jackson redid his contract. He will remain with the Chiefs in 2013. |
Now let's see the numbers. If it's more than 6 M$/yr the Chiefs are in trouble. _________________ Be it known that this day, January 4, be known as Reid Friday from now until ... well, as long as it lasts ... |

This makes me happy. I am a TJax fan and believe he has really developed nicely. Obviously improvements still need to be made.
And as you said I, too, am very interested in his contract.
Also even with TJax I'm still up for Star at #1. _________________

Would it be cheaper to just extend the contract? _________________

Nope. With just one year left there's know bonus acceleration. Those 2.5 M$ will count against the cap in 2013 anyway. Add to that the new contract. Not a cheap player whatever the Chiefs do. Geesh. Cap going fast .. very fast. _________________ Be it known that this day, January 4, be known as Reid Friday from now until ... well, as long as it lasts ... |

What does the cap look like? What moves can and can't we make? _________________

I'm glad he restructured. Hopefully we can sign him to a longer deal before next offseason. _________________

Here's what I posted in the NFL Gen:
| Quote: | | It seems like every move the Chiefs have made has had a domino effect. Trading for Smith was a big part in getting Bowe to resign. Getting Bowe to resign allowed us to tag Albert. These two moves have given us less cap space and put pressure on Tyson Jackson to restructure or be cut. If we let both walk he knows he doesn't have to restructure because we'd still have the cap room to keep him. And now multiple Chiefs players have already talked on Twitter about how huge these resigning were for our team, showing that they are buying into the new management and coaches. |
Really excited about all of our moves so far. Just another move that allows us to go BPA in the draft. _________________

I don't know how we can keep what we've got and not be right against the cap with roll over. That means no UFAs, like at all.
I expect us to now try to restructure Tamba. Just figure out a way to delay a couple million in exchange for a little more guaranteed. We have too many needs to address with the picks we've got, so we need a few million for at least some vet min contracts. _________________

I am wondering where we are at as far as the cap goes. The Colquitt contract might come back to bite us a bit not to mention the Alex Smith contract. _________________

It just feels kind of good for our team to have to worry about working within the cap and not going over instead of us just having the usual 30M in cap space going unspent. _________________

I'm not sure having to count our pennies is a good thing, but whatever you say. _________________

Chiefs spent more than the cap last season. _________________ Be it known that this day, January 4, be known as Reid Friday from now until ... well, as long as it lasts ... |
