Developer: CD Projekt RED
Release Date: 2014

Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

Game Informer
Quote:
Our March cover story gives a world-exclusive peek into the next generation of RPGs with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

This standalone sequel takes the fascinating stories and characters, non-linear plotlines, and difficult decisions that the franchise is known for and puts them all in an open world 30 times larger than the previous game an enormous setting even larger than Skyrim's vast expanse, made possible with the new REDengine 3 technology that developer CD Projekt RED is debuting with the game. Our huge feature dives into everything The Witcher 3 has to offer, and it's a lot: the detective work that precedes deadly combat when monster hunting, storylines that weave and twist together between political intrigue and otherworldly menaces, and a tired hero who wants to set things right but can't put down his swords until his conscience allows if it ever does.

Coming in 2014 on PC and "all high-end platforms available" (CD Projekt RED isn't saying flat-out that it's a next-gen game, but it's a safe bet that new console announcements in the coming months will define the term "high-end platform"), The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt stretches from stormy islands to war-torn forests and a sprawling dark fantasy metropolis without a loading screen anywhere to be found.

This reminds me... I need to go back to Witcher 2.

Got past the first chapter (escape from the prison) and arrived at that first town. Like it a lot, just not a lot of time.

Might play the first one sometime too.

Witcher 3 sounds absolutely fantastic, a massive open world with an actual story and actual things to do? I'm quite interested.

The original is really hard to play once you've played a game from 2010 or later. Even though it's from 2007, it feels like it's from 2002.

I bought it and DAO at the same time. Played DAO once through, then tried the Witcher. I had to stop after an hour. It was almost unplayable to me.

Reminds me of when I tried to play the original Fallout after playing Fallout 3. It didn't go so hot Laughing

I hate playing games out of order

I kind of like that this game is going to have less political machinations to it. After a while I didn't want to decide the fate of nations anymore. I just want to see Triss and Yen get into an epic catfight. Is that so much to ask?

It's not that big a deal for me, if necessary I will just read the plot online somewhere.

I gotta beat 2. Im pretty sure I have 2 8-9 hour playthroughs of it and I keep stopping for random reasons. I cant say I like it, but I want to like it... Not sure whats stopping me from liking it...

I had the same problem at first. Skyrim was my first real RPG gaming experience where I went full out. Witcher took some time to adapt to
