Prior to being Franchise Tagged, Brandon Albert was a rumored FA Target. This speculation was based on Offensive Line Coach Joe D'Allesandris coaching Albert from 2008-2009.
Joe D'Allesandris moved onto Buffalo for 2011 & 2012. Therefore, I would consider OG Chad Rinehart & recently released OT Demetress Bell two affordable targets that can compete for starting spots on the offensive line.
Another Draft Target in the late rounds would be two Temple Prospects- Martin Wallace & Sean Boyle based on Assistant Offensive Line Coach Andrew Dees work with these two prospects in years past.
Ultimately, I'm hesitant to believe the Chargers will be willing to pay for Jake Long or Jermon Bushrod. But I do believe more affordable UFAs can be added to help fortify the line. _________________ I'd Select Ziggy Ansah 1st Overall |

There's no way Long is in the plans if we incorporate the zoneish looks of D'Allesandris. Not to mention the price. With Albert gone, I'd say the only guy I'd want is Vollmer, but I expect him to get too much money, plus Vollmer has some issues of his own regarding health.
Andy Levitre would be fantastic, but I don't think we could pay his and Vasquez's salaries on top of everything else. Bell and Rinehart are very real possibilities if D'Allesandris likes them enough. _________________

Does this mean that KC is probably not going tackle in the first. This would be great for us and almost undoubtably give us a top three LT with the 11th pick (depending on what KC does with the pick-they could trade down to someone looking LT). Im sure Vasquez will price himself out of our budget and if we go zone Im ok with that. We actually could see 4 new starters along the line (Nick aint going anywhere). Im actually thinking that would be a good thing. If we can get them through camps and preseason, I don't see why we couldn't have a pretty solid unit along the line (considering four new starters). Im not talking 5 pro bowlers of course but between Mccoy,Wiz and Rivers a servicable line could do wonders. _________________ New Regime = New Team... Now start building it and make it your own. |
