I thought about Wheaton too, but only if we lose Sanders.

I am not sure the draft falls this way, but if it does, it is going to be a long(er) few days at the draft. In this scenario, I can see the Steelers trying to move up for Lacy, who should not have fallen as low as 2.42.

However, I think of who is available tho, Okafor offers the best value at 2.48.

Seems to me that the pick for the Steelers should be:

Alex Okafor, OLB, Texas

A few other choices:

Blidi Wreh-Wilson, CB, Connecticut
John Jenkins, DT, Georgia
Barrett Jones, C/G, Alabama
Le-Veon Bell, RB, Mich. St.

Exactly what I was thinking - Okafor. He probably presents the best value. He seems to be the forgotton man, but he might be really good at OLB for us.

Otherwise, I really like Green. He's not ideal for our scheme but there is a lot to like about him. I wouldn't mind sliding him inside.

Barrett Jones would also be a pick to solidiy the OL.

Too early for S. Thomas or Bostic imo.

Okafor is my pick. An athletic pass rusher who causes turnovers with six forced fumbles the past two seasons.

Jones was also a guy that I wouldn't mind too.

I agree. A 4-3 OLB. In our scheme would have to slide inside to fit.
My point was there has been some serious question as to whether or not he can even be effective as an ILB in the 3-4.

I never said that he could. All I said is that he would be an ILB in our scheme.

In other words we agree.

Brown, to me, is just like Green in that he is better suited for the 4-3. I haven't seen many people project him to inside in the 3-4. Not only that but for his entire collegiate career he never forced one single fumble. For a team that is desperate for players to create turnovers he has shown he has shown an inability to accomplish that.

I made a poll for the Steelers' round 2 pick like JPN did for the 1st round to make it a little easier.

It can always be edited to JPN's wishes of course Smile

So far it looks like Okafor and Brown are the front runners. After we hear from Jpn maybe We can start a pool or something.

I'd like to give at least everyone that's included in this mock a change to say their piece. Since JPN is pretty much running this we should wait to hear from him.

So far 43, jpn, kethnabb, Tony g,.mo steelers haven't made any comments. I may have missed some. I'll send out pm's if needed.

I dont like how the board fell.

I agree with the consensus about Okafor and Brown....Id probably lean towards Okafor, but Id be fine either way.

Matt Elam was another guy I thought would get some consideration. Im not a fan, but thought someone wouldve mentioned him.
