I would have loved to have him back to backup Craw, but he really earned himself a starting job this year.

I agree, It was a 1.65 million dollar contract iirc.

Handzus just signed a 1 year deal with us btw

Indeed:

Michael Handzus has agreed to terms on one year deal with CHI, paperwork to be completed

Good to see them getting almost everyone back so far.

The Chicago Blackhawks might stay relatively quiet in day one of the unrestricted free agent market.
"We’ll look at that, but we have guys who are knocking on the door to get into the NHL; guys who have been in our system for two years and they’d probably be playing on many other teams already. That’s good for us," Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman said. In other words, Bowman would like to give some of his younger players a chance to prove themselves. Chicago's close to the cap ceiling anyways, so they don't have a lot of flexibility in the matter.

That would honestly be ideal, homegrown guys at a cheap salary. I remember hearing a lot about Teravainan (2012 1st round pick) was destroying the competition in Russia or wherever he played this past year, I'd love to see him up here this year at some point. There's also guys like Morin, Hayes, Smith, Beach, etc. who can contribute up here.

EDIT: I still expect them to sign someone, preferably a 2c.

Teuvo is staying in Finland for at least another year, after that he probably spends some time in Rockford. After the Handzues signing I don't see them signing another C with guys like Pirri and McNeil ready to be brought up. And Beach didn't even get a qualifying offer from the Blackhawks so he is gone.

Nice!

Pretty solid. Rozsival is a guy I did not expect back at all, but it's pretty awesome to return all six d-men.

With Handzus in the fold, the Hawks can focus on finding just one centerman instead of two. My guess is still Brandon Pirri from Rockford unless they find somebody in free agency.

Really happy they kept Rozsival and Handzus. The rumor is they may go after a cheap veteran goalie even though they have Raanta(he is on a 2 way deal).

Yes he did, unless you heard otherwise elsewhere.

Doesn't appear to be on the NHL radar right now though.

Actually I missed it, but either way he has a long way to go to even have a shot to play for the Blackhawks he has a good amount of players ahead of him.

Beach led the Icehogs with 204 penalty minutes this past season. Shocked Beat out Bollig. That's serious right there.

The Bulin wall! That would be a nice reunion. Solid veteran backup.

That's only cuz Bollig played 25 games with the Hawks and Beach didn't.

Done deal. 1 year contract. A bunch of people can take those Khabibulin jerseys back out of moth balls now for a while.

Sweet. Hopefully he isn't needed much, but it's still good to have a familiar face back. I remember being real upset when he signed with the Oilers.
