No surprise there. Maybe we'll be able to use him to move up a spot or two in the 3rd or so. Swap picks with a team desperate for LB's. Seems pretty unlikely though when they'd have to pick up his contract.
Can't imagine someone doing that. |

Klis doing the hard sell online for the Broncos listing all those teams he reckons may be interested. _________________

Having a new DC every year came in handy... there's a defensive guy in like 8 different cities who has coached DJ. _________________

This is hardly a surprise. No one is going to trade for him when we put him on the block because, as Klis says, he's going to be released before the OTAs start in April.
What is our LB depth chart going to look like?
WLB: Woodyard, Trevathan
MLB: Irving, Johnson, Mays
SLB: Von
I wonder if Mays is going to be kept? If so it will need to be a lower price.
Looks to me like we need to bring in a veteran (but not an old veteran) free agent or use a draft pick. That's a lot of youth, lots of talent to be sure, but lots of youth, so I think finding an OLB on the free agent market who is 26-27 years old to round out the depth chart would be a good idea. _________________ big_palooka:

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the loser of the MLB battle, either Johnson or Irving becomes the backup at both MLB and SLB.
I don't see how Mays makes it. |

I don't see how Mays makes it. | I think the Broncos keep all six of these players. Johnson can backup at SLB if Irving wins the MLB and vice versa. Mays can play ST's and MLB if ever necessary.
As AAA pointed out Mays will most certainly have to take a paycut. I also think he will be willing to do so. Mays is a great guy and is well respected in the locker room. He is a modern day Keith Burns. Not a great linebacker, but a thumper on ST's.
We will know by TC if the Broncos plan on bring in a veteran ala Keith Brooking. If we do see a veteran linebacker brought in, I would expect it to be at MLB. We have the players to backup at WLB and SLB, but we will find out if we have a MLB. _________________ GO BRONCOS! |

He was a great Bronco on the field. It's too bad how it all shook out. _________________

I still hope we can find a way to keep him at a lower price. He's an elite LB on the field. _________________

He's never been elite in his entire career. Decent maybe but elite never. _________________

Umm...I would say better than decent. How many seasons has he led the Broncos in tackles, or if not led, was in the top three? He has been a great linebacker who has gotten little attention for it.
That is my opinion and I could be wrong. I hate to see him leave, and hope that maybe he thinks about restructuring and playing in the middle, and for the person who says DJ cannot play MLB...he has played everything other LB position, and he adjusted and played in those positions well... _________________ Ninja stealth muggers in the Bellagio has left me in a state of congitive disonance... |

I think there's more to the DJ story than meets the eye. I just get the feeling he's gotten worse in the lockerroom. No evidence of this, but if you follow him on social media, his "Dyme Life" brand promotion is kinda out there sometimes, and I think he pulls a lot of younger guys into it.
That being said, his clothing line is sick lol. _________________
