I was thinking 5 years, 35mil but close enough for them to agree with 37.5

37.5 sounds right. Less of an average than Long, but a higher total value to stroke his ego because of the extra year.

Andre is 26 years old & on the verge of becoming the premier Right Tackle in the game. Jake Long if healthy would've garnered significant more on the open market. That's why his physical was so drawn out.

5 Years between 35-40 million is the price on Andre. It's one worth paying. You don't let players whose best Football remains ahead of them depart. You lock them up.

Sure, there need to be weight clauses in the contract. Getting this negotiation right will prove beneficial in the longrun. It's a stepping stone to one day locking up A.J. Green...

Pats have just locked up their RT Sebastain Vollmer for 4 years. Don't know the exact numbers yet.

Guess we'll find out about Andre Smith soon.

Seeing as Jake Long signed for less than what Smith was asking for, he better sign on the dotted line and not get crazy.

I hope you're right, I don't want to have to take a RT @ #21.

I think Mike Brown is in the $6M pa ballpark, Andre Smith is in the $9M pa ballpark.

Logic says $7.5M pa gets it done, but I think I know who ain't budging.......

Doesn't seem like he is gettng a lot of attention now, so he isn't getting anwhere near that $9 mil number.

I hope you're right and I hope we resign him. We have the room and I hope we don't have to use an early pick on a T

It's strange his agent hasn't trotted-out the "we have interest from several teams" line to try and spook the horses.

Maybe we are the only show in town.

I hope we are. Just not at 9 mill a year

I'm starting to question if he even gets $7 mil/year at this point. There's only so much cap space around the league.

Exactly. Don't we have all the leverage here? I've heard rumors Philly was interested but other than that pretty much zilch.

I really hope we resign him though. Because otherwise I get the feeling we would take Fluker in round one, something I really wouldn't want to do. We have other needs to fill. Not resigning Andre creates another big one.

Yeah, I think its important we re-sign Smith for another reason this year, viz; its almost like signing three players.

If we have to sign Fluker or Faulk @#21, we lose out on maybe trading down this year and picking up an extra top 100 pick. Thats 3 for 1.

Sebatian Vollmers' deal is only for $17M over 4 years, $8.25M guarenteed, with other bonuses like a $1M Superbowl bonus.

Only $4.25M base av.

Looks like the Pats got themselves a deal right there..........

Is Andre Smith twice as good as (Pro-Bowler) Vollmer ? No, didn't think so .......
