Did anyone hear if the Rams offered Smith a contract before he left? He would be nice addition to our LB corp and would be great at SLB for us.

Hypothetically if we did sign him, you guys think it would change our draft strategy for LB this year? He did miss significant time last year.

From what Jim Thomas said, no contract has been offered at this stage.

Yeah he left without a contract but being this late in free agency that's common practice. As to your second question I think it would change because besides last year he never really misses any time. That was the first time in his I believe 9 year career he missed significant time. I would really hope we can get a deal done with smith. Because honestly with us during up the Tackle spot, a tight end spot, resigning Hayes and potentially getting a starting SLB there's a million things in this draft we could do. We could focus on playmakers and maybe actually make a luxury pick (saying Jarvis Jones or Sheldon Richardson fall)

I would pass out if Jarvis is there at 16.

Tavon and Jarvis are there at 16! who do you take?

Gotta agree here. As much as I like Jones and what he could bring to our defense, I just can't fathom passing on Austin's playmaking ability and potential. Our offense has been in dire need of this for years...

To me picking Jones or Richardson aren't luxuries though, if they are the best player available I don't think the Rams would hesitate taking either. Both improving important positions. In my opinion, Richardson and Jones are playmakers.

Definitely take Austin over Jones. Richardson would make me think but in the end Id take Austin.

I'm taking Austin for sure. Sadly, I think we won't get a sniff of Austin anymore.

I'd take Jones over Austin at #16. I know the Rams really need WR and I really like Austin, I just couldn't pass up adding Jones to our defense.

But like Flatlyner stated, I don't think Austin will fall to us anymore.

I'd also take Jones. Jones has the ability to be an elite level LB in the NFL, can't pass up on that for a slot WR.

Rams S Darian Stewart has signed 1-year, $1.323 million tender offer as restricted free agent. Could start this year minus Mikell and C.Dahl

Why is an elite offensive weapon less of a need for us?

I dont know about that. Austin is more then just a slot WR. He's a pro bowl level returner as well. He could immediately become the most explosive slot WR in the NFL and would make our offense better right off the bat.

I like Jones as a prospect sure, but I'd much rather have Jones as my OLB in a 3-4 then in our system, whereas, Austin is a perfect fit for us.

I'm not suggesting I wouldn't be elated to have Jones, but, I think Austin would have a bigger impact on our team right now.

Jones could do what Von miller does in play olb and play de on passing downs. That would be scary as you can have long Quinn Hayes and jones rushing the Qb
