EDIT: After a good suggestion from Lunatic, I've edited this to be the thread for all discussions invloving off-season moves (franchise tags, re-signings, etc.)
Please keep all thoughts/subjects related to this thread. RF28 can we get a sticky?
It's now official, so we can cross off one free agent safety from the list...

Expect more to be taken off the market as well before March 4th... _________________

Glad we got this set up and Stickied. Sorry that some of us like to actually follow protocol and keep things organized around here. Im gonna keep this post updated with the Tags, Signings, and hopefully even some Rumors.
New Franchise Players
Finally making a decision, the Bills will the slap the Tag on S-Jairus Byrd over G-Andy Levitre
A growing trend in recent years, the Colts find it easier to Franchise their Punter Pat McAffe, than to extend him long term
Cincinnati also had to make a choice on who to Franchise this year, and it looks like the Bengals will use the tag to keep Michael Johnson over Andre Smith.
In another No-brainer, the Broncos Franchise Ryan Clady, keep Peyton's blindside protector in the fold.
Unable to get a long term deal done, the Bears have Tagged DT Henry Melton, taking one of the top FA off the market
UPDATE: Apparetly that threat of him winning the WR argument did scare off the Titans, we will know for sure here in just a bit, but looks as they will pass on Tagging Jared Cook. I hope this was more of a ploy by Cook & his agent to get away from Tennessee (a major issue for him) than him actually expecting Top WR money in his next contract
UPDATE: In a bit of an unexpected turn, the Chiefs put the Franchise Tag on Branden Albert instead of Dwayne Bowe, who they were able to re-sign to a new contract. there has to be some big cuts to make these possible.
The Dolphins finally designate the Franchise, its not the Top CB on the market or the LT who some still believe to be 'elite', they Tagged 29 year old DL Randy Starks
In a move that many will question, the Cowboys will slap the Tag on OLB/DE Anthony Spencer while trying to build a new Defense that they may not have the pieces to.
Signings around the League
The Ravens & Joe Flacco agreed to a long term deal, making him the Highest paid player in the NFL
OT Will Beaty off the Market, re-signs with the Giants on a new reasonable deal (sets market for Saffold?)
Cap casualty George Wilson, who the Rams were interested in, lands a new 2-year deal with the Titans
In a bit of a Shocker, the Chiefs lock up Dwayne Bowe to a new 5 -year deal. Im sure this will set the market for the WRs out there this season. They also locked up their Punter Dustin Colquitt
Guys with their Walking-Papers
RB: Ahmad Bradshaw, Michael Turner
WR: Steve Breaston, Titus Young, Austin Collie, Johnny Knox (Retired)
TE: David Thomas, Kevin Boss
OL: Demetress Bell, Guy Whimper, Jason Smith, Steven Peterman
DE: John Abraham, Dwight Freeney, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Frostee Rucker
DT: Chris Canty, Ron Edwards, Mike Patterson, Cullen Jenkins
LB: Michael Boley, Stewart Bradley, Nick Barnett, Bart Scott, Calvin Pace
DB: Dunta Robinson, Terrance McGee, Eric Smith, Johnny Patrick, Charles Woodson
Rumor Mill: Lying Season
The OT market isnt going to be cheap, Jake Long is looking for atleast $11mil annually while Andre Smith thinks hes worth $9mil per.
Are the Broncos looking to trade DJ Williams? What would be the price? Are the Rams interested? Is he worth it?
Apparently Greg Jennings asking price is "down to $12mil", can we afford that price at that age?
Jermichael Finley not looking to take a pay cut, could be released, making the free agent Weapons pool even deeper.
Reunion time? Patriots could look to cut Brandon Lloyd, anyone interested?

You know how cluttered this place gets around this time, and we really dont want to have to have a new one of these for every Franchisee, or visitor for Free Agency, or guys that other teams sign.
Clearly there isnt one, so you did nothing wrong, But I thought this might be a great time to set one up, and then maybe RF28 can sticky it up top when he gets around. |
Good idea, I will edit it now... _________________

We should re-structure JL-55's contract. He has a guaranteed 11+million for 2013 that if changed to a signing bonus, can be prorated and save us almost 9 million in cap space for 2013.

I think they want to pay him now and not later. After this year, his contract becomes more manageable. That will allow us to resign/extend last year's draft class and so on.
Same with Chris Long and the first 2 years of his deal. |

Andre Smith did not get Cincinnati franchise tag and will likely test the market. Thoughts on him at RT? _________________

My first thought is that we passed up drafting him in a favor of selecting a different Smith...ugh.
He'd be a nice signing, I wonder what he will demand on the open market? _________________

A ton of money, if he does reach the market. Eric Winston's contract plus more would probably be his next deal.
Edit: My guess would be somewhere around 30 million. |

Yeah, he'll be spendy no doubt. Would love to have him here, but, likely we couldn't afford him. _________________

But then that will come back to bite us in the following seasons. _________________

There is always a yin and a yang with restructures. However, if this happened, his cap hit in future years would be just under 3 million. Not too bad. I can see why that may not sound appealing though. _________________
