Akeem Jordan
Restructures-
Jason Peters
-He’s getting older and he is coming off of an injury so he knows that he has to take a cut in his salary because it will help the team.
Trades-
Trent Cole to Atlanta for 4 (30)
2013 NFL Draft
**Trade 1 (4) to NYJ for 1 (9) and 2 ( **
1. 9. Dion Jordan 6’6 248 lbs. OLB Oregon
Chip gets his guy. Dion preforms great at the combine and shows off his fantastic athleticism. He has the frame at 6’6 to add 10-15 lbs. and create a larger frame. He will be great on our new defense and we can use his athletic abilities like Aldon Smith. He can be a cornerstone of our franchise.
**Trade 2 (3) to Miami for 2 (11) and 3 (20)
2. 8. Jesse Williams 6’3 320 lbs DT Alabama
We get one bully to our new defense. He will be a great run defender and will be able to get penetration. He gives us some much needed muscle and nastiness to our defense. He’s a beast from ‘Bama and will give us a tandem with Cox on the other side.
2. 11. John Jenkins 6’3 346 lbs. NT Georgia
We get another bull to our defense with our next pick. He will give great penetration nose tackle. He gives us muscle in the trenches and just a massive body to draw double teams and free up our line backers. We can be a very nasty run stuffing defense with these picks so far.
3. 5. David Amerson 6’1 205 lbs. CB North Carolina State
There’s a reason he was thought to be a top 5 pick earlier in this year. He had a rough year yes I agree. But he has no help from his team. He has no pass rush and really no help from safeties. He is a good dynamic player that has the length and the speed. He can learn from the pro coaches and hopefully he will be a good physical play making corner.
3. 20. Da’Rick Rodgers 6’2 217 lbs. WR Tennessee Tech
He was once one of the most feared receivers in college football, but now he’s stuck near the bottom half of this deep receiver class. He can come in and be a great physical threat in the slot and produce as teams worry about Maclin and Jackson’s outside speed. His speed and physical ability will make him a helpful target to whoever our quarterback is.
4. 4. Bacarri Rambo 6’1 211 lbs. S Georgia
He plays a physical game and is great against the run. He has to work on his coverage but he can definitely slide into a starting spot in the Safety corps.
4. 30. Dennis Quessenberry 6’5 302 lbs. OG San Diego State
He has the size and he has the athletic ability. He also showed at the Senior Bowl that he can play among the best at guard in run blocking and pass blocking. He can get to the second level and make plays. He can learn behind Levitre or Mathis and replace them admirably.
5. 3. Dion Sims 6’5 262 lbs. TE Michigan State
He’s a big body tight end that hopefully will be able to be affective in the red zone and maybe turn out to be a pretty good additional receiver for us. The plan is for him to be able to be a good second tight end for us as Clay Harbor hasn’t really show much promise.
6. 5. Reid Fragel 6’8 303 lbs. OT Ohio State
A late round guy that can take time to learn right tackle or maybe left tackle. I see him as being an Alex Boone guy who has great size and just needs to learn how to play the position better. He’ll take the time to learn and be an effective starter when his time comes.
7. 4. Shmarko Thomas 5’9 208 lbs. S Syracuse
He’s got speed and has a Bob Sanders like upside. Hopefully he can be a top special teams performer for us.
7. 24. Mark Harrison 6’3 233 lbs. WR Rutgers
A big physical receiver that can be a great target when needed in the redzone. He has the measurable and he was able to help Rutgers this year.
7. Compensatory Pick. TJ Johnson 6’4 310 lbs. C South Carolina
He’s an SEC center that can hopefully help provide depth. I’m sure if Kelce goes down he’s not going to be able to slide in and start but a couple of years we may be able to churn out a stop gap starter and a depth guy.
QB- Mike Vick, Nick Foles, Dennis Dixon
RB- Lesean McCoy, Bryce Brown, Chris Polk
FB- Stanley Havilii
WR1- Desean Jackson, Jason Avant
WR2- Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper
SLOT- Da’Rick Rodgers, Mark Harrison
TE- Brent Celek, Clay Harbor, Dion Sims
LT- Jason Peters, Reid Fragel
LG- Evan Mathis, Dennis Quessenberry
C- Jason Kelce, TJ Johnson
RG- Andy Levitre, Danny Watkins
RT- Todd Herremans, Ed Wang, Dennis Kelly
DE- Jesse Williams, Derek Landri, Antonio Dixon
NT- John Jenkins, Sammie Lee Hill
DE- Fletcher Cox, Cedric Thorton
OLB- Dion Jordan, Vinny Curry
ILB- Demeco Ryans, Jamar Chaney, Akeem Jordan
ILB- Mychal Kendricks, Casey Matthews
OLB- Brandon Graham, Wallace Gillberry
CB- Sean Smith, Curtis Marsh

I would love that draft, except it seems very unrealistic. _________________

I'm fine with the cuts/not resigned players.
I'm ok with the FA signings.
Derek Landri is a horrible fit for the 3-4. No need to resign him. Akeem Jordan will most likely be walking too.
I agree with the Peters restructure.
Cole to ATL seems like decent value, but the cap hit could be too high to let him go (bonus money from last year's new contract). I think Cole stays.
Love the Jordan pick, really love getting Williams and Jenkins.
Amerson and Rodgers would be a good 3rd round (if those trades go through).
I'm fine with the rest of the draft. _________________

I don't think williams would be a good 3 or 5 tech. Pretty much have us taking back to back nose tackles, also not sure we will go after those types of nose tackles, I think we do something more like jay ratliff than having giant dudes there. _________________

We will have 44 million in cap space, no reason to insult jason peters by offering a restructure if anything I would extend him and make his deal maybe slightly more manageable but at his best 10 million is a bargain. _________________

Cole won't be traded.
If those trades were to happen I'd be CMJ'ing all over that draft. _________________

But at the same time, even the greatest psychics in the world can't predict how well Peters will return from the ACL injury. There is no telling if he will ever reach the elite status he once had, especially when you factor in his age. We can cross our fingers and hope that happens, but you can't be absolutely sure it will. _________________

You're right.
It was his Achilles not ACL.
The greatest doctors might be able to though. _________________

Andy Levitre is not a RG. Levitre + Mathis + Quessenberry = 3 LG's.
Don't understand why you took 2 NT's in the 2nd round. Jesse Williams is a NT in a 4-3 and a NT in a 3-4. He's not a DE in any front. Same goes for Jenkins.
Amerson probably goes in the 2nd after running so fast at the combine.
Rogers is a good pick if he's still there. I think he goes mid to late 2nd tho.
Like Rambo.
Like Quessenberry, but not if we sign Levitre.
Sims is ok.
Fragel will go before the 5th.
Shamarko will be gone
like Harrison
TJ isn't good. _________________

Mathis can actually play either side, as can Levitre. Levitre is actually incredibly versatile...I'd rather keep him on the right though and Mathis left, that's if we sign him which I doubt happens honestly.
Agreed with most here that Williams is more of a NT. I don't see him playing DE anywhere. I doubt we can get Jenkins in the 2nd, but I'd be very happy if we did. I like him a lot. We would be better off taking one or the other and using the other pick on a safety, o-lineman or another corner. But I don't see Jenkins making it past Baltimore, Houston, or San Fran.
Agreed that Shamarko and Fragel won't be around that long.
Love the Rogers and Rambo picks.
The rest of the draft is solid, as others have said. Switch Jenkins or Williams with DJ Swearinger, Jordan Poyer, or Johthan Banks and I really like it. I just don't see some of these guys lasting as long as you have them going.
OP: I think FA is a bit too much, as those guys are all starters. Not sure if Gilberry really is a good fit at 3-4 OLB. He has normally played DE in a 4-3....I like Sammie Lee Hill and Sean Smith. Love Levitre but I don't see him leaving Buffalo. Not huge on Patrick Chung, but I could live with him. Maybe he's better than what people think because of NE's scheme and the fact that every guy in their secondary always looks worse than they really are.
Not a terrible mock....A bit optimistic, but good nonetheless. _________________
