| Quote: | The Saints are in the process of trying to create salary cap space, and a new deal for wide receiver Marques Colston will give them some.
The Saints and Colston have completed a restructured deal, Jason La Canfora of CBS reports.
There’s no word on the details of the deal. Colston signed a five-year, $36.3 million contract in March, and he may have simply agreed to reduce his $4.5 million base salary to the league minimum while taking the rest as a signing bonus that will be prorated over the final four years of his deal. |

Edit: Ben Grubbs as well
| Quote: | The New Orleans Saints have shaved $3 million in salary-cap room by restructuring the contract of guard Ben Grubbs, according to a league source.
Grubbs restructured his contract earlier this week to help the Saints who had been more than $14 million over the cap. The Saints simply handed Grubbs a $4 million signing bonus up front.
That lowered his base salary from $5.2 million to $1.2 million and the signing bonus is pro-rated over the remainder of the contract. |

...They have to be planning a splash type signing. I am willing to bet they are targeting someone we are not expecting since we thought we likely would be strapped. _________________

Watch out! Darelle Revis for our 3rd and a conditional 2014 pick! |

I agree with you NavyMan... I think many will automatically think Spencer but knowing how this franchise operates I would put my money on the Saints throwing a big contract at the young and emerging Kruger.
Then targeting a corner like Rhodes or safety like Vaccaro in the draft. _________________

| All those restructures should put us under the cap right now and Brees, Vilma and Smith will restructure or take a pay cut as well! |

If my math is wright we are still 1-2 million over the cap. Someone should probably double check that.
Any way it's a lot better than 16 million _________________ Isa Abdul-Quddus +hands = Darren Sharper 2.0 |

As good a Revis is, there is no way he would get the contract he wants from us. And I would prefer to avoid a player that plans on holding out every other season. _________________

I would love getting Ruger, keeping Galette signed with us, Wilson at ILB, adding Vacarro to the backfield...although I wonder what we would then do with Jenkins. Back to CB if that happens? _________________
