Agreed. It makes the rest of the draft so much simpler then too having taken care of QB. I'll be breathing a huge sigh of relief if we pick up Geno. |
So pick up Kolb's bonus, draft Geno then cut Kolb? |
It is a tough spot to be in, but if they pick up a veteran FA they may cut Kolb; The bonus is not a huge hinderance either. Only 2M this year as opposed to 7M last.
I only say you start him because Keim stated that if we take a guy in the top 10 we want immediate impact.
We cannot afford to pass on Geno because he is not "perfect". Drafting scared kills teams. |
Keim/BA don't seem like the scared type, he wanted AP. Graves/Whiz not as much. _________________

Report: Raiders interested in Geno Smith
Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that there are rumors of the team’s interest in Smith, who by virtue of the fact that he was the fastest quarterback in Indy makes him an obvious candidate to play for the Raiders.
If the Raiders take him, Carson Palmer likely would be cut. And if Terrelle Pryor remains as the backup, the Raiders would become the first team to go two deep with mobile quarterbacks — which would allow them to run the same offense with either guy.
1. Al Davis is back from the dead
2. Kick the tires on CP? _________________

Not completely illogical but that sounds like smokescreen to me because it sounds like the rumor is simply based off the bolded statement.
Also I looked into it little further and cutting Palmer would apparently leave them on the hook for a ton of dead money. |

Geno would be a real interesting fit for this team. As good as Austin and Bailey were, they're very small WRs that don't have near Fitz's catch radius, who has enough range and vertical to catch even some of the overthrows Smith will have until he refines his footwork. _________________ Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, and Bruce Irvin will all have at least 1 pro bowl season each by the end of the decade.

That is a fairly good point.
More size, more reach, ala ESPN sport science.
We have some biggins at WR, Fitz and Flyod. Would love us to replace Doucet with someone with talent. |

Eiffert or Ertz would be lovely.
Doubt we head down that path in the 2nd however.
If we traded back a ways in the first maybe. |

He'll fall to #7 unless someone behind us trades up. He's a reach for Jacksonville and one of their coaches said he'd be the best QB in this draft. Oakland has Pryor. _________________

I don't understand that either. I think he means Pryor is supposed to get his shot, but I just don't see it.
Oakland either restructures Palmer if he is open to it or they release him and attempt to nab Geno at #3. That's the only scenario I see really. _________________

If you even look in the Raiders forum they believe that Pryor is being groomed to be the starting QB. I don't think the Raiders are going to take him _________________
