The Miami Herald has learned that the Dolphins and Nate Garner are finalizing a deal that will keep Garner in Miami.

Garner started four games at RT last year after Long went down and Martin moved to LT. He can play every position on the line, which makes him a valuable backup. Completely unrelatedly, I worked with his dad briefly while Nate was at Arkansas.

Solid resigning, but I still want Winston to come to Miami (and if we can't get Winston, Vollmer).

Yeah, I don't think this signing affects the effort to bring in a starting tackle at all.

It did always confuse me how he never really got a shot at starting at G over all this time, though. I feel like it's probably his best position...just like how John Jerry's best position is clearly T, he showed it at the end of 2011 when he started for Long there, and he still always gets moved back to G.

If the Dolphins sign Vollmer, I will most likely puke up at least one internal organ.

It'd be three if he went to the Jets.

Laughing That just makes me want him more.

You're lucky, though, because I think his medical is gonna scare the m off Vollmer.

Speaking of working with obscure olineman's parents, I worked for Brandon Fusco's mom.

Awesome. Anybody else got any reserve lineman's parents stories to share?
