So apparently Star Lotuleilei has a heart condition and will not work out at the combine. Word is he only has 44% blood flow through his left ventricle. Pretty serious issue and hope he can see his dream of playing in the NFL come to fruition. That being said there's a guy out there that posted and article about having the same issue and potential treatments. He said there's a surgery Star could have that would only sideline him for 10 days (let's say a month for someone that has to physically push themselves like an NFL guy) and then be close to 100% after that recovery period.
My question is, after recovery from surgery, would you take him at number 10? _________________

If the doctors give the OK and say he's good to go, you bet your sweet a$$ I'd still take him at 10. _________________ Wedding Vow: I promise I will love you until the day you really p-ss me off. |

Remember the downside of this is a Gaines Adams ( RIP) situation. So I guess the question is potential risk included would you still? In reference to the two posts above, Iwould as well _________________

I would absolutely still take him at 10 if he's cleared by the doctors. He's still the best DT in the class in my eyes despite the recent rise of Floyd that I still don't understand. I feel like Star could give us an Albert Haynesworth type of impact in the middle, so if he fell to us I'd be jumping for the stars. (pun intended) |

The rise of Floyd I think has to do with a couple things:
1. He is a big body and a still-developing talent. The guy got better every year he was at Florida and I think scouts know he still hasn't hit his full potential yet. There is a lot of upside in this kid. He's still raw. I think if he stayed at Florida for his senior year, nobody would be questioning him as a Top 10 pick. The thing is, right now, scouts think he's worth that high. So for him, it's a no-brainer to leave, even if he may benefit from one more year. Ask Nerlens Noel.
2. Like said before, Floyd played all over the line in Will Muschamp's hybrid 4-3/3-4 defense. This guy has played 4-3 NT and UT and 3-4 end on both sides. Sometimes also 3-4 NT, although that job still was mostly left to Omar Hunter.
The only thing Sharrif did not do at Florida, much to his dismay, was play the Buck.
But then again, as his teammates used to say about him: "Man, Sharrif would try to play running back if you let him." _________________

Hey, thanks for the welcome latinoaustino I appreciate it! I've been lurking around the forum for longer than I care to admit, and I finally decided that it was time to get in on the discussion.
As far as Floyd goes I know that everybody is all over him because of his versatility on the line, but when I watch film on him I just don't see that "pop" that I normally look for in players where they just jump off the screen and especially with a top 10 pick I want us to draft a serious game changer and I've never seen much of that from Shariff. Star to me is still the main DT in the class that could make a serious impact for our DLine right away if all the medical stuff checks out of course. [/b] |

Not to stray too far from topic, but did I tell you I live in Denver now? That comment just reminded me of the the tundra outside my window. _________________

I'd be fine taking a chance on Star. Or Jarvis Jones for that matter. At some point we need to take a risk and try to land a potential superstar (and yes, I understand that the last two real risks we took in the first round were VY and Pac). If our medical staff clears him, we have to take him. _________________

I agree. If Star's medical checks out he is the pick. Munch is on the hotseat and he needs immediate production from the #10 pick. If they do not go with Star, I want one of the OGs. I am leaning more towards Cooper than Warmack right now. _________________
