What about a guy like Jonathan Franklin in the 4th? |
You mean slow as Earl Campbell, Jerome Bettis, or Jim Brown? The combine will tell us more about his speed but we already know how he can wear down a defense (ask UGA or Notre Dame) and run the clock out, which was our Achilles heal in the playoffs. |

um, no. the inability to cover TE's is what screwed us in the playoffs. _________________

I thought the defense as a whole screwed them in the playoffs. It really wasn't one particular thing. It was a multitude of things. _________________

I understand that it is hard to deny that our inability to cover the tight end lost us the game, but when our offense doesn't score a single point in the second half, that's a problem. You can blame it on play calling, but When you have that sort of lead, you would like to keep the ball on the ground. That's how you will consistently win with this new offense. Get a large lead fast, and then tire out the defense. _________________

Exactly Will! We had large leads in both games Scar. Each time we could not control the clock and pound the rock. Running the ball keeps the Seahawks and 49ers off the field and thus out of the end zone. It don't matter if you can't cover the TE when they can't get on the field and they don't have time to score enough points to beat you. |

It def was a combination of not being able to run the ball effectively as well as the defense not being able to stop the run or stop TE's. But I agree we need a RB that can close games. The last two superbowl teams had that. _________________

Game tape >>> combine #s
I expect him to run slow at the combine too though. _________________
