This is just a proposal and won't take effect this offseason, but its interesting to see the NFL's plan. It seems to me they want to extend notable offseason activities deeper into the summer to keep interest high in the non-playing season- a FA in April, for example, has the forum guessing who will sign who for another 4-5 weeks longer than normal, ie it keeps interest in their product.
Thoughts on the proposal? I definitely wouldn't mind it, but i hate waiting long enough for the draft as is.

I'd like it because it gives scouts more time to do some extra digging, also could allow for teams to be a bit more prepared.
The downfall is the extra wait.

I'm sure this will happen. But honestly, if your concerned about your team needing more time, there's bigger problems at hand. A scouting department for a team works a good chunk of the year. These guys have so much knowledge by the time the combine comes around, that the extra time is somewhat unnecessary. If you couldn't get your board straight over several months, you shouldn't have a job in the NFL.
That being said, I'm indifferent on the idea. I like the way it's set up now but if they change it, it's not the biggest deal.

| It's already pretty ridiculous that there's a 6 week gap between the Super Bowl and free agency. Making that 8+ weeks is just insane. |

Yep. This is easily the worst part of this proposal. The draft is late enough as is.

Pushing those dates back gives the NFL more room for those 2 extra games and possibly more post season.
Just saying. I am seeing it all falling into place.
