One thing to keep in mind is one doesn't always go looking for trouble, sometimes trouble goes looking for him. I don't know if the deck was stacked against Dennard in this case, but far too often are people put into said position and scrutinized from others who do not know the whole story. So I've decided to reserve judgment and hope that he can play for the Patriots the next several seasons. |

90- to 180-day sentence isn't great obviously, but it could have been much worse. They may impose a heavier fine in exchange for less time.

That's what's going to happen, they'll make a deal fines/community service/probation/Anger Management classes etc for no jail time. Almost a guarantee for someone on a first time offense with a good lawyer.

Agreed, it is a first time offense, the justice system in first time offenses weighs heavily in the likelihood of the offense being repeated. When you take that in and understand that it was just one punch, the judge usually puts it down as a momentary lost of reason. If he would have wailed on the cop and hit him more than once it would be different. |

I'd be 110% shocked if the Pats cut him because of this. They drafted him in the 7th round knowing of this situation. And he only dropped so far due to this.

He'll get off on probation probably with a withheld sentence with 30-90 days as a part of that. I doubt he'll get anywhere near the max and I think he will be playing week 1.
