The assault happened before the draft which led Dennard who was considered a 2nd round pick prior to the arrest, to fall to the 7th round.
Dennard started 7 games for the Patriots last season, recording 35 tackles, 7 passes defended and 3 INTs, one of which he returned 87 yards for a touchdown.

Dennard will be sentenced on Thursday, the link also adds: "Dennard faces up to five years in jail for his conviction, though generally such cases in Nebraska draw a 90- to 180-day sentence."

He is SCREWED... They usually tend to throw the book at anybody who assaults an officer. Stupid move, by a stupid guy. Patriots just got worse.

I agree it was a bar fight how was he supposed to know it was a cop. Resisting arrest I get, at most I see a suspended sentence and a fine with community service. I mean what kind of message is that with guy’s getting less a sentence or not sentence at all for killing someone while driving intoxicated. |

The kind of message that makes sense when you actually know the circumstances of the accident and acknowledge the fact that Stallworth very likely would have got off of all charges had he fought it. (Assuming you were implying Stallworth in your "guy's" portion)

If the officer wasn't in uniform, and didn't immediately identify himself, I'm not quite sure how this could have happened...
But things are not looking good for Dennard's NFL career. If he hits the can, he's probably done.
