Goodwin is an ok route runner and has ok hands. There's a reason he hasn't been projected to be a 1st round pick despite his speed and Austin has been for half the season.
At this point Goodwin is a return man and 4/5 wr _________________

At this point Goodwin is a return man and 4/5 wr | Mike Wallace was raw coming out too. He was a 3rd round pick I think. Sometimes these guys bloom late. After drafting well the last two years our team has decent depth along the roster. I think this year its time to swing for the fences a little and draft players with high upside that might not be ready to play right away. Our team has concentrated on experienced quality "football players" in the past two drafts and they've been able to contribute right away. While those players round out a quality roster, playmakers win games. We need some stud athletes added to this team.
I'd like to point out that when I say we need to take risk on players in the drat I don't mean poor character guys. I mean players that are excellent athletes that may have come to the game of football late, have technique issues, switched positions, etc. |

| HTTR21 wrote: | | His broad jump was pretty good too I believe it was 132.0" | if we are going to take a wr mid rounds, I'd rather have Ryan Swoope. The guys a great football player, tremendous route runner, tough over the middle, can play all the wr positions, Played in a west coast offense with Sherman as the HC at Texas A&M and with Tanehill as his qb.
Ran a 4.34 today, same as Austin!
A fast rb we can get late or undrafted is Onterio McCalebb from Auburn.
McCalebb generated buzz when his unofficial time came in at 4.21 seconds. Ended up being an official 4.34. _________________

I think it's about time you give him some credit. The guy lit it up in the bowl game, got rave reviews the whole week at the senior bowl/made plays during the game, and lit it up at the combine.
Like I told you months ago...this kid has tons of untapped potential. I watched him since his freshman year at Texas, he was never utilized like he should have been. He had terrible QB play for most his career, and Texas was basically a run only team with the stable of RB's they have. When Goodwin got his chances he made plays.
Scouts raved about his hands/route running being way better than expected throughout the week at the senior bowl. If he ends up a Redskins he could be similar to a Desean Jackson like weapon for us. He still could slide a bit in the draft because of the number of quality receivers in the draft, and would love it if we could get him in the middle of the draft.
That said Hunter is still my number 1 guy that I want us to get in the draft. If we could snag him in the 2nd round, we would be getting an absolute steal, but after his combine it's doubtful he's going to be there in the 2nd round for us. |
