FloodX and I have discussed this very topic and we agree as I think most of us do that the true value for the Saints in this year’s draft will be not at a certain defensive position but yet in which ever top defender falls to pick 15. I like most of us realize that the Saints aren’t in a position to either be picky about which position they draft defensively (Lord knows they need help across the board) nor can afford to trade away any more draft selections.

While I do see a trade in which we move down a possibility… I am beginning to seriously doubt that. The Saints will be looking to add an impact defender in this 1st round this year and they will have one available to them at 15. Trading down runs risk and unless another team is willing to pony up a second round pick in order to move up a few slots, I doubt the Saints trade away that opportunity.

So, Let’s take a look at my top 11 defenders available in the 2013 NFL draft.

Why 11?

Simple, In this draft I honestly only see 4 top 15 locks on offense in this draft and those being… Luke Joeckel, Chance Warmack, Eric Fisher & Geno Smith. So, if in the top 14 picks… only these 4 offensive players are drafted then there should at a minimum be one of my top 11 defenders still on the board at pick 15.

Of course I have us going defense no matter what!

Here we go…

1. Star Lotulelei DT Utah
2. Jarvis Jones LB Georgia
3. Shariff Floyd DT Florida
4. Dion Jordan LB Oregon
5. Bjoern Werner LB Florida State
6. Dee Milliner CB Alabama
7. Barkevious Mingo LB Louisiana State
8. Kenny Vaccaro SS Texas
9. Demontre Moore LB Texas A&M
10. Sheldon Richardson DT Missouri
11. Ezekiel Ansah LB/DE BYU

So, I guess as Saints fans we all really should be rooting for these offensive players to light up the NFL combine!!!

What I’d love to see at the NFL combine…

Patterson (Tennessee WR) runs a sub 4.4 40!

Lane Johnson (Oklahoma OT) & Jonathan Cooper (North Carolina OG) wow scouts and front office personnel so much that they trade up into the top 14 to snag’em.

Finally, that Ryan Nassib, Tyler Wilson and Mike Glennon create such a buzz in the interview process that teams fall in love with them.

A whodat can hope, can’t he?

A fan of every bit of it, EXCEPT drafting a WR that early. If we're cutting Hawthorne we have a void to fill at ILB. Personally, I don't think Ryan sees Tez as a MLB. I think we should go with a defensive player there. Other than that I loved it. Don't know much about the players, but I like the positions.

I thought we proved we can draft WR's in the 6th/7th round an make them very good. (cough Colston. Cough)

I know what you're trying to do with offense, but we don't need those high picks on offense. Get Chris Faulk in the 4th, a WR in the 6th, everything else DEFENSE.

The reason I went with a receiver there is if there is one thing that is more frustrating to me than Sean Payton's loyalty, it's his inability to control himself on draft day!

Sean will get him a new toy, I'm convinced that he will convince himself he needs one just like every year.

I agree that Payton can't help himself, but I think even he'll be able to wait until later rounds with a defense as bad as ours.

Love the Brennan Williams selection, I selected him in my mock draft as well. He's going to be a great OT, he has the size, feet, arm length and strength that you want from an elite OT.

If SP won't cut Smith and Vilma, what makes you think he'll trade Jabari?

Moore, Desmond Trufant, Kawaan Short, or Datone Jones.

In this situation I think I'd have to go Moore but I'd try like hell to find a trade partner!!!

I would try to trade, but if that wasn't an option.
Matt Elam or Kevin Minter
Call me crazy I would love to see either on the team next year.
