| I love when I hear people , pay him the money. He's worth 16 m . Please no db is worth that kind of money. That's qb money. I have no problem with him getting 12m max. So what if he shuts down one side of feild , what about the rest o field and jets offense. . Face it jet fans we need to tear team up . He has to go and we need draft picks. If there was no salary cap, I understand paying someone that type of money. But w cap in place we need to spread money around. What's point of having a sports car w out wheels. |

You can't pick two bad players and dismiss the importance of defense.
|
im not dismissing the importance of defense; but to me more then offense were 1 player can make a difference i dont feel the same about defense and CBs
defense to me is more of a team/scheme mentality then any individual player
and those 2 "bad players" were one of the best at there position before they got there money
the point of this thread for me was to finally vent my frustrations while he didnt say anything in the recent interview to really trigger anything just the whole mess is getting me annoyed and i dont want to see him get the contract he wants from the Jets cause i truly feel it will cripple our Cap situation for years to come
if Sanchez actually became the stud QB we hoped and our offense was already pretty decent with our current CAP i would give Revis his contract in a NYminute but the fact is we dont have a decent QB we dont have a good OL under contrace we dont have OLBs under contract we dont have Safties under contract we have no depth at the offene skill positions we simpley cant be handing out the kind of contract Revis wants to a CB its just not a smart football decision for us; now if we let him play the year out and see where were at next offseason maybe signing him could make sense but this offseason it just doesnt so either trade him now or let him play out the last year and see how we look next offseason |
I understand your point but it's easier to scheme on defense when you can take out the other teams best WR.
And while I agree that there are alot of needs, I don't think you can trade your best player unless you get value for him.
If they can trade him and get value, I'm fine with that. _________________ “You don’t burn out from going too fast. You burn out from going too slow and getting bored.”

Revis is upset about the lingering trade rumors that the Jets haven't put to bed, but he didn't seem concerned about letting anyone know about his holdout intentions. Any in-depth fan knew that Revis had everything to lose if he were to holdout so it was never a major discussion, but he seemed content about leaving the possibility of a holdout open towards the media.
I'll make myself clear: I am in no way shape or form onboard with trading Revis. Personally, I see the injury as an opportunity to sign him at a cheaper rate. ACL injuries aren't what they used to be and I have a feeling Revis comes back stronger. Teams aren't going to offer him what he expected to get a year ago, so maybe the Jets can offer him something at market value which he would accept. |
I agree with this. I'm not ready to trade Revis and would much rather keep him then trade him.
He did however irk me a bit when he said something along the lines of he felt bad that Jets fans had to deal with all the trade rumors and what not but where was his apology when we constantly had to deal with his holdouts. I love Revis but he's more about the money than winning.
If he was asked to take a slight pay cut from the 16-17 mil he's looking for to the 13-14 mil he should be getting to give the Jets a reasonable contact so they can build a team around him and put a winning/championship on the field I seriously doubt he'd take the cut. He's a selfish when it comes to money but seems like a good locker room guy and player/coach to the young CB's so IDK what we're gonna do.
Lord knows I don't want to be the guy making this decision. _________________

| Jets were one of the top rated secoundarys, in league . Without revis, Jets need help all over the field. Revis is a free agent next year. Even if jets did want to pay him that kind of money ,who's to say he would take. It. If u can get a 1 and 2 draft picks and trade him to west. Then u do it. What if he becomes a free agent and signs with new England. He has been holding the jets hostage since he's been here. . Held out twice w 2 years left on he's deal . Can u image what he will do as a free agent and no franchise option. Send him to lions for there pick. |

The lions will not trade for him. They really dont have the money. I see the Vikings making a move. _________________

If he asks for 30 million a year for 10 years you still pay him? If not what is the threshold? _________________

| I think 12 million is the most i would pay ANY CB. I love when people say "he shuts down 1 half of the field" really he does? I mean he is great, he is the straight up man.... but he shuts down 1 guy. If the team you are playing is going to fall apart if you take away 1 guy they were gonna be terrible anyway. |

You didn't answer my second question which was the whole point to the post. What is the threshold? 30 million? 20 million? 15 million? 5 million? You can't simply say keep him then say, "actually no not under that circumstance." Well then what circumstances do you keep him? _________________
