After taking a year away from the game, former Minnesota Vikings' safety Husain Abdullah is back in the National Football League.
On Saturday, Abdullah signed a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. He and his brother Hamza Abdullah took the 2012 season off to take a pilgrimage to Mecca, in accordance with their Muslim faith.

I remember reading him taking a year off for his pilgrimage. Pretty cool to see him get back into the league. Nothing but respect for a guy that will walk away from a big salary for something he believes in. _________________

| I will always have respect for him simply because of the sacrifices he made to play football during Ramadan. No fluids when the sun is up as an NFL player both practicing and playing in games takes some dedication. |

Solid depth player, nothing more. His concussion history is concerning. _________________

Wish him the best. Those concussions are concerning but still was interested in him and hoping the Lions would take a look. _________________ AAL: DeAndre Levy 31 Tackles

Just to clarify - he didn't even anything during the day. Followers fast from sunrise to sunset but can eat and drink during the night. So most will try to "stock up" in the morning for a long day and replenish at nighttime. It's grueling, no doubt even more so for an NFL player but I just thought I'd clarify that he wasn't on a hunger strike for the duration of Training Camp. It's likely that Ramadan won't always land during TC although possible - it never seemed to affect him.
Any news on where his brother has landed? Good to see them back in the league. _________________ GO SEAHAWKS GO!

They're overrated & not making the Playoffs next season.
8-8 or 9-7 best for Seattle. (& No Playoffs) |

This signing is going to be one of MANY from this new front office. The talent at the top of the roster in KC is already in place. The GM's goals are basically to find a franchise QB and improve the bottom third of the roster and make our team as competitive as it can be. _________________

Seems like a standup guy, to give up a year of football for his religion. Best of luck to him with the Chiefs. _________________ Why, if it isn't my old friend, Mr. McGreg. With a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg. |
