1. Andy Levitre- Provides tremendous help at Left Guard. Good run blocker for our runningbacks.
2. Jon Beason- instantly provides huge help to the middle or outside linebacker position. Outside of Greenway we don't have another good linebacker on the team.
3. Brandon Gibson- Looks like a Spielman guy to me, coming off his rookie contract (allthough I think he played for Philly before St. Louis?). Pretty young and should be considered a reliable #2. (allthough i'd love to see us sign Greg Jennings, but its unlikely)
If their is some sort of fallout between Henry Melton and the Bears, he'd be my #1 priority though. _________________

1. WR Brandon Gibson
2. DT Glenn Dorsey (coming off ankle injury, so reasonably priced)
3. OLB Philip Wheeler _________________

1 Greg Jennings
2. Jarius Byrd
3. Tough choice....Brent Grimes, I think. Maybe Brandon Moote, as due to his age, he will be cheaper than Levitre. _________________ Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat |

Id like to see him in a Cover 2 type scheme, rather than the down hill type schemes he has been in with the Bengals and Giants.
The reference is great by the way _________________

Maualuga? Barf, huge under performer.
I honestly think the possibilities of us getting even one of the bigger name free agents such as Wallace or Jennings is going to be tough. I expect us to bring in several lesser known backups or smaller role players that Speilman and Co. think have potential to be contributors.
For those of you expecting any big splashes in FA, I wouldn't hold your breath. It's my hope to get at least one solid player at either WR, LB, or OL, but I expect more of the same from our front office, and that is to bank on a solid draft. _________________ "ARMY AVIATION: HIGH ABOVE THE BEST" |

I don't see the Vikings making any huge splashes in FA. The current front office likes to build through the draft. So here's my realistic FA.
1-Brian hartline- gives us our big target for ponder and he won't command nearly the money the top WR are going to
2-Casey Hampton- gives us the run stuffer we need. The steelers are way over rhe cap and are unlikely to resign Hampton
3-Charles Woodson- we might as well take another packer and Woodson would solidify our defense. He would give us the playmaker we need to go with harrison smith |

Thats simple
1. greg jennings
2. jon beason
3. charles woodson
woodson and smith would make and amazing secondary...while beason and greenway could shore up the middle. jennings, harvin, patterson/allan with rudolph and peterson soundl like a dangerous combo agree?? |

Here is a list of players I want. Obviously the top player for each of the positions is the guy's I want us to get first
WR:
#1 - Mike Wallace
#2 - Greg Jennings
#3 - Randy Moss
It is very likely that we miss out on both Wallace & Jennings. I also know that a lot of people are done with Moss, but I'm not. He was my favorite player for so long and I think he finally knows that he isn't a #1 option anymore. He could replace Michael Jenkins and I believe he won't cost a lot of money.
DT:
#1 - Glenn Dorsey
#2 - Alan Branch
#3 - Amobi Okoye
LB:
#1 - Manny Lawson
#2 - Thomas Howard
#3 - Jonathan Casillas
I strongly believe our LB core needs to be completely revamped outside of Greenway & Cole. I wouldn't mind adding 2 LB's this offseason in free agency and another through the draft(Ogletree or A. Brown). _________________

Though he doesn't fit the current MO at all, some part of me would love to see what Brian Urlacher would look like in purple. But that's just a pipe dream.
I would, however, love to snag this trio:
WR Brian Hartline
CB Sean Smith
S Louis Delmas (prefer Byrd, Moore and Goldson, but they're probably all getting the tag) _________________

Actually, on further inspection, these appear to me to be the most likely targets for Spielman:
WR Brian Hartline
OG Andy Levitre
DT Henry Melton
LB Dannell Ellerbe
CB Derek Cox
CB Sean Smith
S Jairus Byrd
S Dashon Goldson
S William Moore
S Louis Delmas
If we could get 2-3 of these guys, and have an at least adequate draft, this team could be set for a while. _________________

I would add Brandon Gibson to that list too; similarly along his career timeline as Hartline. _________________

Yeah, I like Gibson and would be happy with him as well. Maybe both. Get Hartline and Gibson and the need for a WR in the draft goes down significantly. I doubt they would attempt to bring them both in, but it's not like targeting both Bowe and Wallace. Hartline and Gibson would be a doable combination. _________________

Don't get me wrong, I'd be very enthused if we got 2-3 of these guys because they could step in as starters, provide good competition, or become invaluable backups. The issue is that while you state that these are the guy's that Speilman wants, I just can't see how that would be. Speilman doesn't do a tone of moving and shaking in free agency, he goes for lesser known guys who are more under the radar (IE bargain guys) and hopes for one or two of them to hit, and primarily he relies heavily on the draft and developing from within the franchise. If last years draft is any indication of how Speilman can do as a GM on draft day, I honestly am not too worried about who we get in free agency. _________________ "ARMY AVIATION: HIGH ABOVE THE BEST" |
