I like this draft

As much as everybody is complaining about the 1st round pick, I think it is PERFECT!!!!

I am leaning more and more towards solidifying the D in this years draft and adding a few offensive players here and there.

The most impactful players on D are usually LB's, but they can be had in almost any round. A true impactful CB is usually taken in the 1st or 2nd round. Some past that make an impact but its a lot lower percentage. We all got excited by Cook his rookie year. Thing is i just dont trust Cook to stay on the field for a full season and with Winfield done after this year i think its a higher priority than most.

I see Frazier/Williams sticking to mostly a cover-2 but i think he wants to be able to mix it up a bit as evidenced by going to the cover 3 in parts last year.
Adding in Rhodes will allow them to take that a bit farther. Also think Rambo would be a great complement to Smith as long as he can keep the off-filed issues intact. It be interesting to see if they go with that many character concern prospects.

I dont think the lbs graded in the top half of this draft are that far ahead of the rest that it has to be a 1st or 2nd round pick.

I also agree with most that a DT takes some time to develop..i would love to add a NT in the later rounds and not use a first.

It all boils down to Harvin and what direction we go. We need to extend him now or sign a top free agent WR or its gotta be a RD 1 need. We'll know in a few weeks!!!!!!!

No need to go CB so early. We have bigger needs on this team. We got josh Robinson in the 3rd last year and he got a good amount of playing time and came up big at points. We could wait until the 2nd-4th.

I would like to see Robinson in the slot/nickel position. That would allow Cook and Rhodes to play on the outside. So in the future it would be

1 Cook/Rhodes
2 Cook/Rhodes
3 Robinson
4 Jefferson/Mathieu
5 Jefferson/Mathieu

If corner is BPA I wouldn't doubt we take one. That being said, corners aren't highly valued within our system so the grade our staff gives them may not be as high as another position.

Agreed, I think he would be a solid pick. Rhodes is very physical and can jam the reciever at the LOS which is very important in a "cover 2" system. By drafting Rhodes I think it would allow us to add some new things to the defense. With this pick and the Rambo pick our secondary could be set for the next decade if everyone pans out.

Glad you like the mock!

1. That is a concern, I don't know if Spielman would take this many players with character concerns. Maybe the impress in interviews??

2. This, exactly. What we decided to do or don't do with Harvin would have to have an impact on how we approach the draft. Will certainly be interesting.
