Well... according to PFF, Cully had a handful of "meh" games to start the season... then a poor week 6... then a good two weeks... then a couple of bad weeks and a meh week.. then two more good weeks.. then another meh.... then a stretch of poor weeks.
They have him ranked as the #29th best CB.
47 tackles... 2 INTs.. 2 FF
I think the dude's solid... not sure any CB's gonna look real good in our scheme and with a handicapped pass rush. He trails receivers closely, but needs to get better at locating the ball and making a play as the ball arrives. _________________

Looks like a strong start to the season, then fell apart Week 15...just when our pass rush got invisible. Although the TD he gave up to Michael Floyd was in garbage time. |

Yep, he actually didn't play too bad against GB either, but one bomb made his stats look bad. Against the Ravens he allowed 86 yards on mis-communication. There was a 3rd and 2 in the 3rd quarter and Rogers let Boldin go and Culliver was late to recognize it. _________________

I think Cully will do better in the long run seeing as this was his first time playing extensively. But I think adding another CB should be in the plans for this upcoming draft. Im just not a fan of Rogers abilities compared to his contract. _________________

Bummed that we could've had Janoris Jenkins last year then we wouldn't even really be having this talk. Now we are looking for CB depth while questioning our receiving core. Im hopeful that AJ can get his mind right and perform next season. _________________

I see what your saying but WRs and CBs aren't the problem. Guys were running free all year. The WRs we had, got open....ALOT. Other factors, mainly the QB switch contributed to the inconsistencies and lack of flow on offense. And on defense, Fangio needs to scheme a little better and match-up better with these spread looks. ILBs covering WRs in the slot will get burned, more times than not. Its not a ideal solution to the problem. Its bigger than just personnel. |
