|
|
|
* The Rams lost SB XXXVI and by a sad three points margin
* The 'Hawks lost SB XL, by a pathetic eleven points margin...ok but they're the 'Hawks, right?
* The Cardinals lost SB XLIII and by a melancoholic four points margin
* The 49ers lost SB XLVII and by an irritating three point margin
...I can spot a sort of trend here and I hope that, now that all of the NFC West teams have lost a SB, the curse will be over... |

If nothing else, it can't be denied that our division consistently plays in the best super bowl games of the past 15 years or so lol. _________________

On a similar topic i have seen posters and some websites (PFT) say that the 49ers odds are lower to make the SB again because of history. Namely, i don't think a team with the same HC/QB combo has lost a SB and then won another SB in the last 40 years, and i think that was the Dolphins who lost in 71, then won in 72.
Now, that reminds me of a similar criticism of SF last year...the regression to the mean stuff. You know, historically teams that improve a lot in year 1 regress in year 2, teams like the 2001 Bears did it so the 49ers must do it, regardless of the fact that SF and those teams had very little else in common.
Just saying, we have a great HC and a great young QB, no guarantees we make it back but i believe we will contend for years, and one of these days will make it back, just like Joe Flacco and John Harbaugh had to grind it out for years. _________________ -Not taking this off until the 49ers win #6 |

| Not to mention the Hawks, Cards, and 49ERS all lost to same division. Steelers twice, and Ravens once |

Our 'curse' was playing like absolute garbage in the 1st half of the most important game of the year. It has been almost two weeks and no I am still not over it yet.
That aside, considering our prior SB record I guess we were inevitably due for a loss at some point. Hopefully we rip off another 5 SB wins before the next loss comes around... |

I really hope we dont fade into oblivion like those other teams... all three fell off pretty hard after. the good thing is we were the youngest of all of those teams to get there.
another interesting tidbit is that kurt warner was the qb of two of those teams
When we play our best game there isnt a team in the league that can beat us, our problem last year was consistency. I have confidence we will improve this year, either we will come out hungry or we will let the doubt from the loss resonate all year long. _________________

Seriously talking, I have the same hopes that you have: those teams were teams that had already peaked and they were teams whose key positions were held by guys with very little fuel left in their tanks...youth is the factor that most divides us from the teams very much afflicted by SB hangovers...just to put an and to this silly topic I have started: a goog and solid draft is the missing ingredient to prevent us from fading away after such a season... |
