Rhodes, Ryan etc would be nice.
Probably start ahead of Fleming who really didnt wow this year, could have been a coach's doghouse thing too. |
new coach though, maybe no longer in the dog house, but with that said after PP and Flemming all you have is Gay. Would rather have PP, Toler, and Flemming than PP Flemming and Gay. _________________ Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.

I saw a lot of talent in Toler coming into last season where many did not. I remember getting a bunch of criticism on this forum for promoting him (often in favor of AJ Jefferson) - especially due to his age and the injury he came back from. Well - I'd like to reiterate my support for the guy with a couple of tweaks:
Greg Toler has developed late due to the circumstances of his life before the draft - so be it IMO, at 28 now I believe he still has several solid years of football in front of him.
If you guys go back to the camp he had in 2011, it was looking like he was our top cover corner as PP21 was learning on the other side. Toler had showed really good raw cover skills right out of school - and it looked like he was putting it all together going into the season. It was a major disappointment to have him get injured right at that moment - btw, non-contact injuries have been a problem with the turf at UoP stadium.
As far as character - all the evidence points toward this guy being a stand up team player. He puts his body on the line with how physical he is and he's always hustling. He's humble and all signs shows he's a hard worker - sometimes having to be held back a bit coming back from injury.
The one big knock I see is that he still made the mental errors of a young player at times during the season. That included some big ones - for example staring at the QB while a receiver blew by him on a double move. However, I saw improvement cutting down on those errors as the season went on.
Overall I think we need to get this guy back and be willing to spend the market rate necessary (unless it somehow got into crazy money) to do that. He's a solid player and I think he has more potential at his age than people want to give him credit for. |

Freeny and Collie were released. I'd imagine Collie might try to go to Denver but maybe he liked BA.
Anyone know how Freeney looked at OLB? _________________ Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.

Poor. That is why the Colts let him go, was not fitting in the 34. He needs to go back to a 43 D that allows him to rush the passer. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Yea, I guess Freeney graded a positive but more because of pressures rather than sacks (5.5 on the season) but what I saw is more negative and struggles against the run at OLB.
Would not like him here in AZ. _________________

Letting Toler go would be 'tarded.
Unless some team threw boat loads of cash at him, we want him back.
Now is when he is set to take off.
What about Johnson? Does he come back? How much of a market demand does he have? |

I can really see Greg Toler going to the Redskins if he is not retained by you. I have no idea what your cap situation is and where you want to spend your money but he would be an excellent CB for the skins. He's from DC originally and that was one of the big factors for Josh Morgan signing with us last year. What are your thoughts on Toler to the Redskins and what kind of contract do you see him getting? _________________

Big thing with Toler is that he may want to walk into a starting job, something he can do in numerous place, including in Cleveland under Horton and Cioffi.
Here he is going to be entrenched in a battle with Gay and Fleming to be the 2/3 guys.
I would love to have Toler back, but it is going to be his choice, not ours.
I would like Johnson back, we need to find someone to come in and provide quality play at safety alongside Kerry Rhodes, Adrian is slipping, Rashad played well behind him, but I don't think we can rely on him. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Toler coming back is a must with our corner situation. Gay & Flemming are average at best and we have nothing after them or at safety. Also Calvin Pace got cut i wouldn't mind him coming in for under 2m. _________________

Bengals fans saying he was absolutely dreadful last season. They say he was good for 1 or 2 years but then fizzled.
He could be a good fit in a 3-4 but he'd struggle in coverage and rushing the passer. |
