NBT, Ballard is on the cheapest deal you can find for a rookie contract. _________________

He isn't going to be on his rookie contract next season, he is a ERFA [Exclusive Rights Free Agent], that's a new contract if the Patriots choose to tender him. |
No, he's still under his rookie deal because he was ineligible to play last year

The same is true in Ballard's case, although with only two seasons of accrued experience, he would have been an exclusive-rights free agent, where the Patriots would have controlled his rights. He is now under contract for 2013, like Pryor. |

Abraham is really intriguing. He's declining, but seems like the kind of guy who could give the Pats some good snaps as a part-time player. _________________ Shut up, NBT |

I'd rather seek out a part time DT than DE... Ninkovich leaves something to be desired, but far from the weakest link up front, except on rushing downs where Abraham wouldn't even help anyway.
I do prefer Abraham to Freeney though. _________________

Well...there goes number 1 on my "Maybe they won't tag him" mindless optimism list.

...and there goes number two.
Now all I need is for the bears to tag Melton and I can officially stop kidding myself.
...there's a chance they won't, right? _________________
