I don't know if he fits our philosophy, but outside of Greenway, we really don't have anyone worth a dime a Linebacker. |
Ugh no, I rather draft a linebacker |

We weren't handcuffed by the Williams signing at all. We had a decent chunk of cap space before these two releases and now have even more from both of them.
I liked both of these players when they played for us, but I'm not going to lose sleep over this. It was inevitable. Not surprised about Barnett and not all that surprised about Wilson either. They were both good players for the Bills in the past but both really slowed down and played poorly last year. Both are aging and by releasing them the Bills are seemingly going from a young defense and team as a whole to an even younger one, barring any free agent signings which I'm sure we'll have. New coach, new staff. Releasing older players with decent salaries makes sense.
Both should be able to find new teams but don't expect much out of either of them. I'd argue neither is legit starting-caliber anymore. Barnett played pretty poorly on the team with arguably the worst LB depth in the League. Wilson lost playing time to Searcy. They'll be fine depth players elsewhere but starters, I'm not so sure.
I'm fine moving on from these guys. I appreciate all they did for us and I enjoyed them, but releasing them gives us money to spend on other players in free agency and we can always use the draft to fill holes too. I'd love to go after one of the big four WRs on the market with that money. Possibly another LB or CB as well. |

Yep. Let others like Spencer Johnson and likely even McKelvin walk in free agency and we will have enough cap space to re-sign both Byrd and Levitre (one should be franchised) and possibly go after a big-name WR (Bowe, Wallace, Welker, or Jennings) or try for a solid LB or CB (Daryl Smith, Grimes, or Jammer). Probably won't land any of them but we certainly will have the space to try. |

Barnett would actually be a good fit, believe it or not. MN could be losing both Brinkley and Henderson and Barnett is probably better than both at MLB and OLB. _________________

Obviously I don't care if you guys get Barnett, we let him go in favor of the younger more talented Desmond Bishop as opposed to Jennings who we would obviously want back but can't afford him even though our fans and front office might say otherwise. I just find it humorous that everytime an ex-Packer is even rumored to be available its seems like there is a quick Vikings connection. I remember in the Chad Clifton and Nick Collins release thread there was the same things being said IIRC. |

Bishop who has played how many games in the last two years?
Just saying though, Pack fans need to get off pointing out every time an ex-Packer becomes a Viking. Do you REALLY think the Vikings front office or Vikings fans are targeting these guys specifically because they are former Packers? |
