I'm alone in saying that Madden has gotten progressively worse since the '06 version?
I find the '13 version unplayable-ly boring.

06 was the most fun to play out of any version that ever came out. What makes 13 playable is the physics engine. That's it. They need to revert and fast, especially on terms of customizability.

I find it annoying to see everyone just toppling over . A lot like the gameplay from that backbreaker game.
Blitz the League is and was the greatest football game I've ever played!

It's a shame such a premiere game franchise has fallen so far. I haven't bought one since 2004 when they first started to remove customizable features. EA lost it years ago.
There used to be some great games competing in the segment but with Madden owning exclusive rights to NFL naming they never stood a chance.

Didn't the NFL-EA contract run up this year? I'd love to see 2k get back in the mix!

And on a side note, why the hell did they stop making NFL Head Coach? That was ridiculously addictive...

But who has the money to compete with an EA bid?
As for head coach, sales were not where they wanted them to be though I remember it having decent sales numbers. I would guess that someone thought it was taking away from Madden and canned it.

2K was in about a 2 year drop off when it went out too
NFL Head Coach wasn't for everyone. It required a certain level of intelligence and a certain type of brain to play.

What's Ironic is the devs from NFL Head Coach are working on the franchise mode in Madden 13. So I'm just surprised it's not working out well

EA said that Head Coach didn't generate enough $$ (interest, they'll call it) because fans don't play franchise enough.
and EA is going to get 1 more year (Madden 25) of exclusive rights because of the lockout. NFLPA gave them an extra year, kinda dumb if you ask me.
Thing is, I'm not sure what will happen after that year is over, I don't foresee a crap ton of games coming out (think blitz, NFL fever, QB club, etc) Maybe 2K will come out with an NFL game (you'd think secretly, they'd be working on a masterpiece throughout this downtime).
