|
|
|
Now that the whole coaching staff is in place there is till some speculation as to what the Eagles will use for their offensive scheme, but now the defense is definitely going to be using a 4-3 under defense. Similar to defenses used in Seattle, Denver and Baltimore. With Davis i also see DRC coming back, DRC had his best seasons under Davis in ARI. So this is how I see things working out now with Demetress Bell already gone.
CUTS/NOT RESIGNED- Mike Vick, King Dunlap, Darryl Tapp, Jake Scott, Akeem Jordan, Kurt Coleman, Derek Landri, Mat McBriar
RESIGNED- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie CB 4 years 25 million, Colt Anderson S 2 years 2 million, Jon Dorenbos LS 3 years 2.5 million
FREE AGENTS- Terrence Knighton NT 3 years 10 million, Manny Lawson LB 3 years 12 million, Pat Chung S 2 years 6 million
TRADES- Trent Cole traded to NE for 4th round pick
Eagles trade 4th overall pick to NYJ for their 1st and 2nd round pick.
DRAFT-
1) Chance Warmack OG Alabama- Warmack is probably the most sure thing in this draft. He has a future HOFer written all over him. I dont think anyone ever gets past this guy. If he were as good as Tackle as he was a guard he'd be the first pick in the draft easily.
2a) Matt Elam S Florida- Elam is an electric player that will reenergize this secondary for years to come. He fill a need here at Saftey as well
2b) Barrett Jones OL Alabama- Jones comes in to compete with everyone for a starting spot along the offensive line. He will either replace Herremans eventually at RT, or he could in and compete with Kelce for the starting C job or take over Peters at LT eventually. The offensive line is fixed easily with a draft like this.
3) Brandon Jenkins LB Florida State- Jenkins comes in the mold of a Terrell Suggs type of player. He has potential to be great in this league but he does take plays off at times. I think he fits perfectly for Billy Davis' 4-3 under scheme as SLB.
4a) Blidi Wreh-Wilson CB UConn- Wreh-Wilson is a lot like DRC with athleticism and a long frame. He could be the guy to replace Asomugha if Aso is cut after next year or he retires.
4b) Jordan Hill DT/DE Penn State- Hill will come in to compete for the LE spot with Cullen Jenkins and Cedric Thornton. He could also backup Fletcher Cox at UT also.
5) Robert Lester S Alabama- Lester's stock has dropped considerably with the rise of guys like Jonathan Cyprien and Phillip Thomas shooting up draft boards. Lester has a nice frame and played for a national champion he could compete with Pat Chung as the guy at SS.
6a) Zach Sudfeld TE Nevada- Sudfeld is a huge target for the redzone that will come in and compete as the backup to Clay Harbor, although we may be using more 2 TE sets rather then having a FB now.
6b)*- Matt Scott QB Arizona- very athletic QB that backed up our current QB Nick Foles at Arizona. Depending on what type of scheme we use for the offense he may wind up being a better fit then Foles for the offense.
7a) TJ Barnes NT Georgia Tech- Barnes is a HUGEEEEE guy at almost 400 lbs. He would definitely fill in at NT if something were to happen to Terrence Knighton. A great run stopper.
7b)* Michael Mauti LB Penn State- although Mauti may have to take a season off on IR. He could come in 2014 and compete for a starting job with whoever at MLB if DeMeco Ryans doesnt make it past next year.
*= projected compensatory picks
UDFA that makes roster- Ryan Allen P La Tech
DEPTH

Chung is bad.
Like Warmack, others may disagree
Rather go Swearinger than Elam.
Like Jones down to cement feet Lester. Don't like Lester. Rest is meh. _________________

Gotta say I'm really into that draft. Unlikely jets trade though _________________

Lester won't last until the 5th. But if he does and the Eagles haven't drafted a safety by then, then he will be a steal. _________________
